  1. I am assuming you're trolling with this statement and actually know better, but, I'll bite anyway and define what a Christian is in the most technical sense of the term.

Anyone who subscribes to the nicene creed is a Christian. Christians come in many flavors, from catholic to episcople to baptist to Lutheran to free churches to little old ladies who sit in nursing homes and have no formal church to anyone else on the street who accepts the nicene creed.

    Simple.

Sorry, but I couldn't let your statement stand without offering a correction.

  2. What's the Nicene Creed?

Never was taught in seminary when I hopped in to see my friend or in church or in sunday school.

I seem to only find it on Wikipedia. Why is that so?

  3. Like moose said, hope you're trolling. Otherwise you don't know what you're talking about.

Within Christianity there are multiple denominations. There's two "main" groups, Catholics and Protestants. Catholicism is its own denomination, anything else that isn't catholic is Protestant (ie Lutheran, Evagelist, Baptist, etc.)

  4. Religion is a personal thing!

Everyone has to decide for their own if/which/when/how much...

However i think religion was(is) very good in giving base-values and moral ideas and can strengthen society.

I live in germany and the Trend is that christianity is getting weaker and weaker. It was a base for morality and ethic-values for Many 100 years.

This would not be such a big Problem if there were other institutions that help to transport all the social aspects and ideas of how to act in a decent way to keep a healthy and social community running. But there is none.

Thats why i fear a period of decadence, moral instability and just the rule of the survival of the fittest that we are Facing in the future.

Politicians and Education should have closed the gap that appeared when the influence of Religion started to fade in middle-europe. But they didnt. They did nothing helpful as usual and thats why i see Big problems coming in near future.

    ----

On the other side religions always have been exploited by criminals all over the world to rule, intimidate and Control/manipulate the dumb masses.

I always ask myself why people of different religions always Look at the differences!!! It would be much wiser to Look at the simmilarities. Most "normal people" just want to raise and feed their children in a peaceful atmosphere.
There were times when christs, muslims, jedes and other religions could exist peaceful and respectful besides each others.

But i guess our Elite and leaders need some crisis, fear and terror to keep their ruling.

  5. i dont think that without religion morals will disappear, not at all in this information age. Also morals changed all throughout the history of europe/Christianity and it is definitely not the church who made this happen :)

  6. - a muffin strolled into the thread -
    no one suspected a thing....

  7. I'm not saying I disagree that murder is wrong even though that's what you try to spin it into.

But it's also from the book the rapijg you're daughter and slaves is ok.

That's not what national socialists believe you ignorant troll.

    Hillary os quite dumb.

Most people here are legally but you wouldn't know. I bet you hate Obama for not defending the boarders even though he has deported more illegals then any other pres.

Obama hasn't tried to take the pride away from America keep being brainwashed by Fox News.

You offer nothing to any threads besides ignorant claims with no basis on them.

Now read a book or get out you ignorant troll, that's all you bring to threads is trolling.

A terrorist attack won't happen in my town. So I don't know why you bring that up that has nothing to do with this thread troll.

If you want to talk about minorities being murdered you should look at democracy that you love so much. That slaughter Indians and had slavery. But it's ok when it's you're crowd.[/quote]

Lol you want to talk about what bad democracy did? It's nothing compared what nation socialism did in WW2. Sorry we haven't even come close to that and won't. Indians got their casinos out of the deal. Slavery was dealt with. Did you know a slave? I didn't and neither did my ancestors. So why is this American generation being blamed for those events.......still? Oh yeah people like you have nothing else in their pocket to bash the USA about so you pull the race card.

Obama is not the potus that has the highest deportation in history.....that'll be Eisenhower. He swept the country , deported and closed the borders. Why would Obama deport potential votes for the democrats? He wouldn't. Dems rely on the nanny states giving them their voting rights.

What has the nation socialists done for the Jews since the holacost ? ( or however you spell it). Sell them vw and Mercedes.

Don't come on this thread with an opinion about religion when you are a follower of godless nation socialism. Which you gotta believe that there is an heaven or hell cause you know Adolph not sitting in purgatory waiting for the ticket to the pearl gates.

Fox News They report. You decide

    Cnn news........cries....because the truth hurts

  8. adolph doesnt deserve hell, no one does. no one deserves heaven either, they are equally bad.

  9. Really, that's the only place you can find it? I went to a Catholic school for awhile and we were taught it and a quick google search turns up plenty of resources.

  10. Now back to the topic

Question I have is.....do you think that when religious views were infused with education so many years ago...was that American society at that time more moral and prideful about their lives as an American?

    Sorry.....it's a 2 part question

How is it different than today ?

  11. Everyone atones for their past transgressions at some point. Whether it's before or after they die.

  12. Unless you are both of the same faith, you will be talk last each other on this statement

  13. Clarify please

  14. i have faith in a jar of milk, what about you domo?

  15. It's still faith

  16. A Lutheran believes that they need not "atone" for their sins, as Christ did all the heavy lifting when he died and rose Again.

A catholic believes that some degree of good works is needed on the persons part to meet God in the middle, and those that die prior to making complete atonement they go to purgatory to finish the job (not catholic so I may be inaccurate on that)

An athiest may not believe in "atonement" for "sins" at all and may simply try to lead a nice life as best as he/she can.

If you have a different reference point than the person you're talking to, you'll never get anywhere. So, my moosey you advice is to establish common ground before discussing where you disagree

  17. if you wish someone to burn in hell forever you are a terrible person, hitler only killed like 50 million? people due his actions, its bad but eternal pain is a bit overkill.

  18. As a practicing Lutheran, I can tell you that wishing people to go to hell is an attitude that is incompatible with Christianity.

  19. Moose.....

All religions of today except Islam/Muslim broke away from the Catholic Church because they wanted something different.

Lutherans do believe in atoning for there sins if not then there would be no reason to discuss sin in their churches in Sunday. Real reason is that the pastors wanted to marry. I've sat in Lutheran churches and they still acknowledge the Roman Catholic Church.

  20. i was not really pointing at any religion, more like on individuals who say such things. The concept of hell is odd already with an all-loving god.
"everything you do bares a will and a why and therefore a little bit of love and joy"
