I found the remarks about environmentalism being a possible common point between liberal and conservative a little off . It mentioned the more religious conservative see themselves as stewards of the earth. Something like that. Typically I see more of the religious conservative types more or less refuting climate change , or believing that there god will intervene divinely and fix everything down the road. So carry on more or less . Make that money .
@ Moose I can't quote you because your 1000+ lines of color codes make it too damn tedious but... "As. Conservative, I find your statement about business to be ad odds with my belief." You're a Canadian, so you're a socialist by birth.
Moose: I believe the U.S has people who fall on the spectrum not just the ends. But I do believe that there are way more people on either end than in the middle or swaying. Just an interesting story to put in; during the Obama vs Romney election I believe it was, Romney is not a hard conservative like he ran in the race. He had a healthcare system like obamacare in the state he was in, Or he proposed a system. But his political party told him to be a hard conservative. So he portrayed all his views as such. Now I would love to put my source for this but I forgot where I read it. If I find it I'll be sure to post a link so you can read it too.
You missed the fact that Adolph and many other "progressives" were liberals. Don't try to paint that liberals are good and conservatives are evil.
No. Adolph was a fascist, which is a hard core right wing ideology. Simply because some radio jockeys call people "feminazis" or use the term to attack liberals and progressives does not suddenly make fascism a left wing ideology. And Adolph, who was into unilateralism and genocide, was certainly not a tree hugging lefty progressive.
No party's, should vote in who's has you're best interest at hand. Not just a all red or all blue vote. Look at politicians history's because some blue work really while with red and vice versus. While some red or blues don't work at all with the other party ( the issue you want will not be passed, most of the time because of this. As a big side note the pass 2 years that the republicans have voted down all the blues ideas. The president probably veto all of there ideas. ( pay back is a ?) that's helps no American at all. Let's hope the president don't holds a grudge against them.
Regarding fascists like Adolph..... He was neither right wing nor left wing, but was an extremist. I think of the political spectrum like a circle, and right as left are, surprisingly NOT at opposite ends. Actually, if you take left wing ideology to an extreme, or you take right wing ideology to an extreme, they will both meet at fascism.
You missed the point. I'm not saying one side is good and the other is evil. I'm saying one ideology is by nature resistant to change and the other isn't. And progress comes from change. But by all means, feel free to list all the great scientific and social progress that has come from conservatism.
I thought you were discussing Canadian Politics then in veered in to US this is one area, media aside we differ from the US The Media paints the Nacar gun totten, and the cream mustache from a frapachino stereotypes Frankly last two elections in the US the Republicans acting like out if control kids I am a card carrying Liberal but when the conservatives win I'm in the boat helping them row municipalities Provinces States should be run like a business with normal accountability We've allowed opportunists to live a sheltered career as politicians The positions seem not to attract the right business minds and why would they the pay sucks I've personally been exposed to corrupt officials stealing away and going unchecked One of our PM's thought it was okay he got his bribes after he was out if office A NDP MP who ran Ontario filled his pockets with insurance companies donations Then after 12 years hidden from the public had the gall to try to run for a Federal slit with the Liberals The Job attracts thieves
Actually, no he didn't First off "share everything" is communist, not progressive . Secondly, despite the habit of wing nuts linking Adolf with gun control for PR purposes, Adolf actually decreased gun laws for everyone, except for one group. Guess which one? Lastly, progressives want better government, not necessarily bigger government, and if you'll look, the biggest expansions of the federal government in the last 50 years have come under conservative Presidents, not liberal ones, so it's not like they really want smaller government. They just want one more business "friendly".
Share everything, like welfare? I pay taxes so the poor/lazy(no I'm not saying all the poor are lazy, but many are) get money from the gov. Therefore evening out the playing field, while lowing everyone to a lower overall standard.
With that statement about Adolf H. being a liberal, you seem to be painting liberals as evil. Talk about hypocritical!
Funny thing, lots of people (including yourself) seem to be spelling his first name wrong. I belief it's spelled "Adolf".
Well, then you can at least find a better way to express it. Hell, just say this: Not all Liberals are good, but most aren't bad either. It's as simple as that. It is certainly better then comparing us to genocidal maniacs
I pay taxes so multi billion dollar corporations who are outsourcing jobs don't have to, so we're even. Large companies find ways to a zero tax rate http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/bus ... s/2480281/
I see Sam Brownback has done a fabulous job sinking the state of Kansas (countering the Detroit argument from right). Bottom line is that there are examples of mismanagement on both sides where governing has gone horribly wrong at the extremes.
