Yes, Brownback did win again. It was a wave election in which voters chose party over competency. Terms limits are badly needed to help reinstate a sense of "service" to country and provide the freedom to focus on results instead of fundraising for the next election cycle. Sadly, neither party will ever submit the idea to be voted law. And redistricting has spiraled out of control. In general, public duty has turned into a power seeking "career"
I just shook my head when they reelected Brownback. Of course it helped that he didn't release the information about just how bad it was until after the election. Because they're legally required to have a balanced budget, they're looking at having to cut the budget by $278 million dollars by June. And they can't cut schools because they already cut them so much the court stepped in and stopped them. It gets worse next year. They're projected to have a $435 million dollar deficit. Meanwhile all those jobs Brownback predicted haven't shown up. They're actually lagging behind the nation. Anyway, they reelected him, so they own it.
Comparing people to Mousolini or Marie Antoinette doesnt hold the same effect. A popular liberal rights group recently made a poitrait cover of Putin with a german moustache this week. Did it hurt their campaign? Doesnt seem to have hurt it at all. Probably sold more magazine covers.
Am I allowed to post THAT Angela Merkel pic as a relevant political data point? Putting her ahem assets aside, I think she and The German Gov are doing a good job straddling the left and the right..
What exactly is a German moustache? If you are referring to Hitler's moustache, it's actually a Charlie Chaplin style moustache Also, I'm not surprised that they put it on the cover, after all, Putin has been acting like Hitler, with the annexation of Crimea and such.... (if you don't get what I'm emphasizing, look up Hitler's annexation of areas such as the Rhineland, Austria, and Czechoslovakia, this behavior is similar to what Putin did with Crimea, in some ways).
Moose, just right a book. You thoughts translate well enough to write a whole peice. You already have customers who would be willing to support it.
Interesting. Citations (links)? And what is the argument to those that don't believe in DNA? Because I sure don't. Nurture is the biggest factor in this as with almost all senarios.
Ok I have something to say. I'm a conservative. When I was in my 20's I didn't really care about politics. Why would anyone in their 20's care about politics? Right, left, center and or radical was all Greek to me. It was that until I got settled into a career and raising a family of six that I started to to see the bottom line shrink. I was a small business owner that saw my profit go to zero under Democratic Party rule. I've always liked Republican Party policies for the small business owners which helped us grow and employ hard working people. The dems have always waged war on the small business owners and the middle class. The people that drive the economy. The first year Obama was elected I saw a huge shift away from the private sector. Executive order to increase pay checks which came out of my pocket on a then struggling business. I had to close. Saddest day in my life when I had to tell my business family that I could no longer help them. The insurance mandate killed us. Who got the waivers? Not me, only the unions did. Now you can try to blame Bush, but I was making money during Bush and so was everyone else. This game has a lot of younger people and their opinions show their age. I said this before, " raising a family changes your outlook on politics" Why should my hard earned money go towards the people that refuse to work and or better themselves. You know who I'm talking about. Not the people that are actively looking for jobs but the ones that don't. The ones that sell their link cards for cash. The ones that keep having kids to increase their link cards amount(food stamp). I was unemployed for 2 1/2 years. Nobody was hiring anywhere. Unemployment benefits ran out and I couldn't claim anymore. That's where the false jobless claims stat comes into play. The stat the dems love to throw around. I couldn't claim because my time ran out. Lol 20 years of paying into the state and after 2 1/2 years I was cut off. I've been digging myself out ever since. The Republican Party will restore order. Will bring back the private sector( that's where jobs are created). Why? The country is tired. I'd have to say I am wired for survival of the fittest. You want to sit on your couch and let the govt do it for you then you are really not surviving. If you are hungry and want more then you will work for it. I want America back. Europe landed a space craft on a meteor. When did we let the world beat us at anything? Oh yeah, when the dumbasses elected Obama and thought that change meant for the better. We are falling down the ladder of progress. Hey you all were told that this would happen but didn't listen. Moose good thread as always
For an article that tries to bridge gaps between liberal and conservative, its pretty biased toward liberals - using negative emotive words to describe issues of importance to conservatives. Nevertheless, its an interesting read and insightful. Thanks for sharing.
Ever notice that when a conservative succeeds, they did it all on their own, but when they fail, it's the governments fault? There's so many inaccuracies and inconsistencies in that story it'd take two pages to go over. I'm not even going to waste my time.
So summarize what you've said, your personal fortunates live and die by the hand of one man in the Executive office? You are aware that there is a system of checks and balances right? And that gridlock has been established for quite some time? Dig deeper into the true catalysts as to why you find yourself in this particular situation. I could just as easily say I thrived during the Obama years (I did), but I don't owe my success to him and throw up the pom poms in the name of the Democratic Party over it...or any party for that matter.
I do think a tenet of conservatism is personal accountability. But i do think domo has a point. There is evidence that supports what he said about the downward pressure on small business and the middle class as a result of obamacare.
Cheese, there is evidence to support anything one wishes to argue. Yes, let's talk about personal responsibility. For me, that meant focusing on a career, and eventually my own small investment research firm, UNTIL I could support a family. Either this guy was in the wrong business, had too many mouths to feed, or lived in an area that wasn't ideal for him and his family to settle in. All I know is that my tax rates are low/fair and that nothing has hindered or suppressed my ability to be successful.
