Conservative. Liberal. Why we are what we are.

  1. You expected something different?

  2. Right, and you have SO many examples to back up your statement.

  3. Apparently so. May I suggest locking this thread?

  4. Every now and again, forum surprises me. If course. Every now and again a blind squirrel finds a nut too.

  5. I could argue on this thread for quite a while, but I think I'll pass, and go do some work.

  6. You've engaged in throwing verbal feces just as much as your attacker, so, no. I won't shut it down yet. Anyhow, it may yet become interesting.

  7. By the way, there's a reason Liberals and Conservatives think differently. They have different brain structures.

"Political views are reflected in brain structure

Individuals who call themselves liberal tend to have larger anterior cingulate cortexes, while those who call themselves conservative have larger amygdalas. Based on what is known about the functions of those two brain regions, the structural differences are consistent with reports showing a greater ability of liberals to cope with conflicting information and a greater ability of conservatives to recognize a threat, the researchers say.

"Previously, some psychological traits were known to be predictive of an individual's political orientation," said Ryota Kanai of the University College London. "Our study now links such personality traits with specific brain structure."

  8. Relax capitalists, Fruity_Cats banner doesn't suggest that they'll be imposing a new world order any time soon :D

Whilst this radicalism sounds nice, its a little short on detail.

Oh almost forgot to mention the obvious irony in raging about capitalism through your expensive smart phone, tablet or PC whilst sitting in a well built temperature controlled house.

  9. Exactly! So, this tells us that people with different views aren't stupid or evil. They are simPly different. Its interesting to see how intollerant the Internet can be when it comes to people with differing brain chemistry

Well, the ones I've seen, you created, One asking about the election results, and another on Adrian Peterson, or whats his name. And here's yet another.

Btw.. Rainbow text makes it extremely hard pull out a direct quote on a mobile device. But you probably knew that already.

  11. Interesting... This would also explain why young people tend to be more liberal, as they also tend to believe nothing can hurt them.

  12. Adrian Peterson thread had zip to do with democrats or republicans. It was simply a thought piece.

  13. I didn't make that connection. How very interesting.....

  14. If a man is not a socialist by the time he is 20, he has no heart. If he is not a conservative by the time he is 40, he has no brain. – quote wrongly attributed to Winston Churchill, but a great quote all the same.

  15. Yeah I think you better hit those books they may make you smarter but I highly doubt it

  16. How is it not fair? I make $100, I'm taxed $15. Rich person makes $1000000, they're taxed $150000. Seems fair to me. The rich pay more because they make more, but it's stilt the same percentage. And should inherited money be taxed at all? No. It's already been taxed once, and how can something that's already been taxed be taxed again? Just like with registering your vehicle, you're taxed when you purchase the vehicle ( a few times) then you're taxed each year thereafter. There's something wrong with that. "fair tax" is just that, fair. Everyone pays the same percentage, and the rich still pays the highest percentage of total, because they make more money.

  17. Don't think the furgusonturd knows how percentages work

  18. I also think liberal and conservative should be a false dichotomy but sadly some people are ridiculously polarised. It shows a real level of ignorance to not recognise that both ends of the spectrum can have value. They can also co-exist in the world view of an individual if they would only listen without preconceptions.

  19. You do realize that capitalism is supposed to be controlled by the people, right? And you said "we shall not let the government or big business run the market any longer", but then you said we need to regulate. So which is it? Less government or more government? True capitalism, companies Such as GM or Chrysler group would have gone under and smaller companies would have risen to take their place, but the government(what you want more of) stepped in and kept them in business. Same with the banks and lending groups. True capitalism would have gotten rid of those big businesses and replaced them with more efficient businesses.

  20. I try to be civil with many people of opposing ideology. I can say I am friends with an individual that falls on the opposing side of the political spectrum. He can be quite rude and in your face about the existence of God, but other than that we get along just fine. So as far as myself and Dragon having a laugh or whatever it is Moose said, it is entirely possible I suppose.
