  1. Player's Guide to Event Chests and Furnishings

Hello, welcome to my guide and archive for Event Chests and Furnishings. 🐰
Initially introduced in late 2014, Event Chests have become a staple part of KaW. With the addition of Castle Furnishings to the game, the current version of Event Chests are now primarily focused on Event Items and Furnishings.

In this guide, you will find information about each Chest, see images of what Furnishings are out on the market for trading, and read some Fun Facts about various Events throughout KAW's history. Thank you to all the players that assisted in compiling this info into one thread!🐰

(If you discover any missing or incorrect information, please message me in game instead of posting it in forums. To discuss this Guide, please visit the separate discussion thread here.)

May the Force be with you!🐰

    General Info

Chests are used throughout Kingdoms at War primarily for special rewards and bonuses. Most are earned through completing Epic Battles and Legends, but occasionally the developers will hand out Chests for special reasons and events!

    How to Acquire Chests
    • 1.) Epic Battles - During Events, some Epic Battles will drop a Royal version of the current Event Chest. Some temporary Event Epic Battles drop Chests specific to that Event for the purpose of completing tasks related to the Event.

2.) Legends - Completing Legends, specifically the ones that require a player to finish an Epic Battle, will reward a player with a free Event Chest. Two types of Plunder Chests are Legend rewards: Fate's Boon for PvE, and Victor's Spoils for PvP.

3.) The Labyrinth of Zoma - This Epic Battle drops a Chest that, when opened, awards players the appropriate items needed to unlocking and upgrading an Equipment piece called The Septum Ring of the Minotaur.

4.) System Wars - Participating in Scheduled System Wars provides players with the chance to receive War Chests.

5.) Other Players - Some chests, mainly Royal and War Chests, are tradable.

6.) Other Chests - Some Chests, when opened, reward players with other types of Chests, mainly Crux Chests.

7.) Marketplace - Occasionally, certain Chests are available for purchase in the Marketplace. One example is during Black Friday, the developers typically release Crux Chests for sale for a few days.

8.) LogIns - From time to time, the developers will reward every player with a free Chest upon Logging In to their account.

9.) Moderators - Moderators are equipped with a special Chest called KaW's Coffer. They may reward players with one of these special Chests for various actions and participation within the KaWmunity. When opened, players have a chance to win items including unique Mod-themed Charms.

    How to Open Chests
    • 1.) Free Event Chests - Free Event Chests are opened by spending a small amount of Gold.

2.) Royal Event Chests - Royal Event Chests require the purchase of a Royal Key which costs 10 Nobility Points and are available in the Marketplace.

3.) Zoma Chests - Zoma Chests are opened by a Zoma Key or a Gold Zoma Key, both available in the Marketplace. A regular Zoma Key costs 5,000 gold, and the Gold Zoma Key costs 15 Nobility Points.

4.) War Chests - War Chests are opened by their respective keys found in the Marketplace. The General's Key costs 100 billion Gold, the Conqueror's Key costs 1 trillion Gold, and the Sovereign's Key costs 10 trillion Gold.

5.) Plunder Chests - Plunder Chests (Crux, Anniversary, Fate's Boon, and Victor's Spoils) are opened with their respective keys found in the Marketplace. Once opened, a plunder spell is activated for a specific amount of time to increase plunder earned by a player when they participate in Epic Battles or in Player-Versus-Player activities. Keys cost between 5,000 and 10,000 Gold.

5.) Moderator Coffers / Developer Reliquaries - Chests awarded by the Moderators, called a KaW's Coffer, and Developers, called a KaW's Reliquary, cost 1,000 Gold to open and do not require a key.

    Trading Chests
    • Some Chests are tradable. Only the Royal version of Event Chests may be traded to other players. Free Event Chests and Plunder Chests are NOT tradable at this time.

    Royal Coffers

Event: The Farmer's Journey, Part 3 - The Nemesis
    Date Released: 7/21/15

"The main road leading to the holy city of Ciro, birthplace of St. Timaios, was like a slow-flowing river fed by streams from all four corners of the kingdoms ...

Walking their horses amid the great press of life were the Mage and the Acolyte ...

For the most part, the acolyte and the Mage did not attempt to speak to each other over the noise of the crowd. The acolyte occasionally tried to read one or another of her texts, but always found herself watching the other travelers instead.

The Mage did not look around at all, but stared straight ahead with his customary frown of concentration, purposefully perusing his mental libraries ...

“Death and the dungeon make equals of us all,” replied the Mage. “St. Timaios was not a particularly virtuous or brave man, but he was well-educated and and keen of mind, and he was able to maintain both his sanity and his diary throughout his decades in the Nemesis’ dungeon.”

“The torment underwent by the Farmer would have killed a thousand men a thousand times, but He was not allowed to die. It was His misery and His miracle that He survived.”

They both turned to look out the window to stare at the wild whipping of the snowy winds.

“The girl is an Oracle,” continued the Mage. “I’d stake my life on it.””

Each year, Fianogh Ghriannos, god of the Sun and the beasts of the forest, demanded of mankind a blood sacrifice to pay for a year’s hunting of his subjects.

His twin sister, Geal Bheanna, goddess of the Moon and the green life of the forest, called for her domain to be cleansed of evil.

If their price wasn’t met, it was said that Fianogh Ghriannos would release the Sun from his hunting nets, and Geal Bheanna would not play her magical harp, which was responsible for the progression of the seasons.

According to legend, if their demands go unheeded, the world will descend into a never-ending winter...”

'We must bide our time, Llarum. We must grieve.'

'No. There will be no further delays' snarled Othorion, wheeling round, his red eyes flashing again. 'The filthy incursion will pay for their treachery. Send out the call. We march in one hour.'

Hallgrim returned to the present. 'What we all need most right now,' he said. 'Time.'”

    Unkari Chest

Event: Lay of the Rimeland, Part 4: Voorziel the Cursefount
    Date Released: 1/29/16

"There was now a hideous appendage extending from the inside of the orb where the ice was missing. It appeared as a giant leg, like that of a crab or a spider, jointed yet which seemed to be able to bend fluidly like the tentacle of a sea creature. It was able to extend and retract itself at will, and it whipped about the chamber, seemingly at random yet at the same time with an apparent intelligence. It was covered in cilia that moved with a hideous life of its own, and it was topped with a needle-sharp white barb with which it seemed to regard the room, like a serpent searching for a meal.

“Voorziel!” said Lysanthir pleasantly, as the others looked on in horror, “Awake at last, are you? You took your time…” He turned his face upwards toward the ceiling of the grotto, and a faraway look entered his eyes.

    Sunrise Chest

    Event: Once Beyond Reach
    Date Release: 3/22/16

"Running up the center of each side of the pyramid is a wide staircase, and at its peak, a mysterious stone archway. A strange magic is at work; you and your crew attempt to climb the stairs, but are unable to make any headway. You tread for minutes up the stone steps, yet the archway at the top draws no nearer, and the bottom of the pyramid is as close as it ever was.

Looking around near the base of one of the sets of stairs, you spy a plaque set in the stone, bearing an inscription in an ancient language. The Mage tries to interpret the pictographs, but the only words he can make out are:

    “Ascend…”
