Very clever tactic in declaring the various gods of religions "mythical" in the OP while trying to appear neutral as well as open to discussion. I have tried that tactic in many a thread. Well done.
I think all schools should be privatized and the government should get out of it. Then people can decide if they want to send their kids to a school teaching religious things or not. I typically don't look to the government for my answers and schools are one of their biggest failures.

In every move there's a reason, and it was stated in the book. And in the fact that, the book teaches us moral lessons of life and by reading it, we learn to forgive. To the story Abraham and Isaac, yes God told him to sacrifice his son, but at the end, he didn't let his son to die. It's just a test, and that's reasonable and in that case he didn't want to sacrifice Abraham's son to him. It told the reason right? In the past, yes most preachers are rude and think that they are holy, which is a bad thing. We can define good or bad, but it's just up to us if we would think of it as bad or good. The unreasonable stoning, Jesus makes the ppl an embarassment in the story of the woman who is about to be stoned. When the news reached Jesus, he came to the place where it will happen and he told them to stop. They have reasons to stone the woman, but Jesus hold a stone and said, "To those who are sinless has the right to stone her." until and until, the ppl walked away, leaving the woman safe. It may not be the exact, but I wish you get my point, unless you really think of every word from the bible as bad, then I can't do anything about it than let you continue it.

I don't really understand why you've brought up terrorism, or gun ownership. His point was that you shouldn't need a book to tell you murder is wrong. Not that he disagrees with everything in the bible. Tbh a lot of it makes sense, but that's because it was written by MEN of a high moral standard.
