Your point was completely missed then. But Civil Union is not the same as marriage in the eyes of the law. And it really screws people.
But I did not clam you was pro or con nor did I clam you followed the bible to a T. I was simply backing by claims in my support to a more understanding world. Again, nothing wrong with having religion, as long as you don't try to shove it down my throat and force your morals on me.
I'm glad that more countries are legalizing same gender marriage. Where I'm from it's been legal for years and why shouldn't it be. Why would someone want to waste his or her time trying to stop two people from loving eachother. It's their lives, their love and nobody has to sit and watch them. Everyone has the right to have their own opinions, but why would you even care that there are gay people around. I hope many more countries will follow because it shouldn't be just a right to get married, it should be just normal that they can marry if they want. Who says your god is my "god"? Maybe I don't even have one. And maybe I don't base my arguments on something like religion. Religion has no right to forbid something like this - no religion - nowhere. And no, I don't support marriage between siblings or so as said in the reply after.... But being homosexual is maybe not as natural as being hetero, however.. Even animals can be homosexual - so... I don't understand why people are against it. Religion often prays tolerance for everybody. Love the one next to you, accept what they want to say and so on, blabla. How in the world can a religion now forbid something or say "it's against god". Ask the Catholics "priests" if raping young boys(and no, not one single priest did so, many did) is what "god" wants you to do. I'm quite sure I know the answer. Knowing you... Id say you may be trolling anyway.
Your last two paragraphs seemed aimed at me being a con. But, that's to my point actually. I interpreted that as you assumed me to be a con. The bible is open to interpretation by anyone who reads it. And people have differing interpretations. That means, you can see the bible in one light, and I another. That is the problem with religion.
I wonder how supportive people would be if someone decided to marry their sibling. Two consenting adults, right? Same argument applies.

Let's be clear here. Marriage is not a Christian institution, nor is it even a religious institution. Marriage is a civil institution authorized and licensed by the State. A marriage is a legal contract that entitles the participants to certain rights and privileges. The 14th Amendment says: "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." It doesn't say only straight people. It doesn't say only religious people. It says "any person". It doesn't matter what someone's God says. According to the Constitution, everyone is entitled to equal protection of the laws.
