We all know the moderators are important within this community as they hold a lot of power whether they are helping others by answering questions, voicing their opinions on topics or keeping the game clear of rule breakers and such. We have a very large community and only 26 moderators currently so the question is: Is the number of moderators we have currently appropriate for this community? So do you guys think we have too many, too few or is the amount we have currently fine? EDIT: Added current mod list below to show our current moderation team. And how often do you actually see half those mods? They aren't chosen for being highly active. They are chosen based off morals and knowledge. I rarely see half those. Partially because they aren't highly active. Partially because we are in different WCs.
Recommending yourself for mod like that doesn't seem professional. The devs and the current moderation team will notice you if you deserve to be a mod.
I'm saying they wouldn't need as many if they were all full time KaWers. They need, I'd say 3 mods constantly for each server. For daytime AND those night owls. But not all mods have that much free time. Are devs supposed to rip it away because mods have real life too? No. They get mods to help fill the blanks.
Well, out of those 26 moderators, maybe 5 (I feel generous) might be in the Asia/EU/South America wc. Sure, that wc is slow compared to the english one, but having only two visible mods (Wabbsy and Iphito, and both seem busy nowadays) seems a bit low. Quite tough to cover a wc 24/7 but infractions are low anyway. And ideally you'd be fluent in 36 languages too I feel that the moderator job shifted from a more wc heavy presence 4 years ago to a job more behind the scenes. Are there enough mods to get the job done? No idea, ask the devs and the mods, they should know. Don't forget that Mods are normal players with a life outside of Kaw. Don't assume that they have the same gaming pattern as you have.
