I understand if the teachers want to write guidelines for those who don't know what to write, but following them should be optional.
They really should! Every time we write a bio, a paragraph, or story the teacher always gives us an outline. So annoying
It's okay, W. I got kinda annoyed last year, when my teacher focused on grammar and vocab, but barely did any creative writing. And the writing we did do was more of an essay. I still like that teacher more than any other in the school, but I still wish we did more creative writing.
We did three units, Short stories, Novels, and Poetry. We did some writing, but it was all based on our opinions and stuff, not creative at all...
We did reading strategies, paulsen books/projects, fantasy books/projects, and then we did a packet of similes and metaphors and all that nonsense.
I have to admit I kinda like Gary paulsen books but the activities that came with it were awful! We had this giant worksheet with a bunch of questions and vocabulary words. We had to read hatchet and the giver both were okay but I prefer my books more
Wow. I would hate that! My teacher taught us a lot of stuff, but not all of it was English, so we got a break once in awhile. He was good at making us think.
I read hatchet once. Wasn't bad, but yeah, not my favorite. And I just read the giver. I think tht book should have explained more. I have to go now, my batteries running low. Happy Writing everybody!!
I choose hatchet as my book, it was an awesome book though I was limited on how much I could read and I was supposed to stop my reading for my reading strategies. The projects weren't too bad though the rubric was annoying cuz I lost 3 points cuz I can't draw very well! So stupid
The projects for hatchet were okay (except the worksheet) we had to stop at certain chapters too. We also made a small diagram of the campsite hatchet was featured in. Ours was the best
We had a choice of the projects we did, there were 4, 3 were required, for the last one we could do poem or a play, our play was the funniest
We were using a bin for our airplane, and the girl playing Brian was supposed to imitate the plane crashing, and she tipped the bin over with a loud bang! And she started laughing, it was funny!
