It was storming outside, I couldn't see an inch outside my window. Little did I know, than we knew, something devastating was about to happen. Not to a small region, but an entire nation, a whole continent.

  12. Sounds good but since you want something mysterious don't try to give too many details. Give enough so the reader will know what is going on ATM. But not so they know what will happen in the future.

  16. Ex. My cloak fluttered in the wind.
Turning my face down towards the city I could see her walking.
    The chosen one.
    So innocent and naive.
Dropping my blood on the stone, it glowed. I faced it towards her. It stopped glowing.
I lept down from the wall and raced off on my horse.

  17. Just a thought

I stood on the rocky outcrop and tilted my face to the sky. The cool mist settled down on my eyelids and my lips parted slightly, tasting the fresh air as it whistled past my face. Soon the sun's rays appeared, dancing pink and gold across my closed eyelids.
Warmth flowed over my body as the sun slowly crept over the horizon as dawn in her chariot spreading wreaths of rosy pink and lavender over the clouds to celebrate his arrival.

I smiled at the tranquility of the moment and the harmonic singing of the birds filled me with a sense of calm I had not felt in a long while.

Then I made the mistake of opening my eyes. I looked straight ahead, the land spread before me like a crumpled blanket. This blanket was not one made of greens and golds as one would expect, but of greys and blacks with shadows that not even the light of radiant Aurora could banish.

The ruins of my home lay before me and I wept, the hot salty treats warming my cold cheeks as the rolled down to hit the rock and charred grass beneath my feet with a surprisingly loud "plop".

How could such a mighty place, the sumptous crown of a once powerful empire be brought so low?

With I sigh, I turned and began my precarious descent down the rocky cliff. In a world of chaos and cruelty, there was no time for sorrow and regret. What is done is done, and dwelling on it will not bring happiness.
