Nobs are better as they give you direct gold whereas the payout from crystals is limited to how much you can earn.

@sioux you lose your end bonus but not the plunder you've gained by hitting the EB.

Hit the top bar "Golem Horde" (I think) in Ambush. It pays sorta well and all players can hit it. That's just me, I'm no hansel expert.
