Being a personal trainer with several certifications in "special populations", one of those being pre/post natal clients, I'm sure I have a firm grasp on how much weight should be gained.

25-35 pounds is a healthy weight gain, unless it's twins. For the most part anything more is lack of a healthy diet on the mothers part.

Then you should know that if your personal doctor says your kid is underweight, eat more, you tend to listen.

When a unborn baby is under weight the doctor doesn't say " eat more". You would be put on a diet that includes plenty of protein and veggies, with empty calories cut out.
