Classic Austin Powers moments.. Jimi Hendrix.. Drugs.. Janis Joplin.. Alcohol.. Mama Cass.. Ham Sandwich!? Oh and.. Liberace is gay!!?
No mention of Twisted Sister? Are we gonna take this? time to throw Ashes out of the second storey bedroom window.
This is an excellent thread, Ashes. Lotta great artists. Well worth the read! I wanna see Linkin Park for the Noughties! #RapRock #NuMetal
I apologize Frog.. Twisted Sister had all the Rock elements needed for a mega band in the 80's.. ✅Visible Armpit hair that's wilder than their head hair ✅Make up to put Mimi from Drew Carey show to shame ✅Spandex Unitards with chest hair ✅Corsets and Belly button baring mid riffs to go along with guitar riffs ✅Third most hard hitting Rock anthem in the 80's for teens vs teachers and parents (after Another Brick in the wall part 2, and You gotta fight)
Ok, not saying that thise you have mentioned are not awesome in their own right, however, I do have to say that LP is not a 2 hit wonder. Formed in 1996, the band rose to international fame with their debut album Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by theRIAA in 2005 and multi-platinum in several other countries.. Their following studio album, Meteora continued the band's success, topping the Billboard 200 album chart in 2003. In 2012, the band was voted as the greatest artist of the 2000s in a Bracket Madness poll on VH1. On November 9, 2014 MTV Europe named Linkin Park the "Best Rock" act of 2014 at their annual music awards ceremony. The band won the 'Best Rock Band' and 'Best Live Act' titles of 2014 on Loudwire's Music Awards. Linkin Park became the first rock band to achieve more than one billion YouTube hits. The band also sets the milestone to have 5 consecutive releases to debut on number one on theBillboard 200 charts, tied with DMX, Kanye West, Madonna, Paul McCartney and Wings, Beyoncé and U2.
Hold on hold on.. There are two things I like about LP.. 1) Their song numb was used as a riff for the super awesome Dr Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent rap "Encore" (Also featured is an excellent movie trailer for Miami Vice.. Don't watch the movie.. Just the trailer) 2) They make me think of Transformers.. Specifically that Decepticon called Megan Fox
LP - One Step Closer. Song that puts you in grrrrrrrr mood with the chorus Everything you say to me Takes me one step closer to the edge And I'm about to break I need a little room to breathe Cause I'm one step closer to the edge I'm about to break
Awesome Awesome job on the Eighties. I'm eager to see the next addition to this thread Ashes Oops. Hit quote instead of edit. Ooooh well
