What's the point in growing all the time if there's nothing at the end of it? PvP gives a reason for growth. I wouldn't be playing right now if there was no PvP. Its what sets this game apart from the other text games in the app store, they're all crap, generic copies of each other with no decent PvP, you get bored and quit.
We were shut down after being given a month of warning, and transfer packages to our game of choice. It was a long time coming, as our community had become very small. Very different to KaW. No. We had no epic battles, no shiny equipment or pretty badges. FC was pure pwar or osw/pvp. Generally, you were one or the other. We were fortunate to have the vault capacity, so as long as you had over 89m out (as a lcbc, equiv to 5-6 fb unl), you could vault the entirety at a 25% tax. But yes, it did make it extremely hard to grow, unless you were given pwar tax as a boost. In part, I suppose this impacted on our ability to retain players. If someone had it in for you, there was no escape. You couldn't hide in an eb or ee, couldn't distract yourself with new and fancy things. Just pvp, day after day, no escape. I'm actually surprised there weren't more KaWers there, in light of the feedback from Shardfall. Hope that helps OP. But really the FC situation was more complex. I would put it down as a combination of in-game, social, and cultural factors.
Up, the astral ward was the same price as a seal Every minute and a half, 2 or more astral wards were casted. That's $12+ USD per minute and a half.... I'm pretty sure that their income was at least 2 or 3 times the regular income with crystals and seals..... Maybe even more...
I would assume, as a company, it doesnt make much sense to operate and maintain 4 games. 4 games that are basically all the same thing at that. makes more sense to me to migrate the players of the two less profitable ones over to the successful two. so did they fail?
Bad marketing strategy... Simple has that. They could at least keep a server Running them... Or past them to Desktop, theres a Big market for those type of games
The two games were terminated because of their low player base, server costs, and the resources that they didn't want to waste keeping the games running.
Given the fact that they shortened the promo by a week, and gave an opt out option for EB enthusiasts, I bet it was down big time.
