  10. Fascinating guy is Taleb. Made what he calls "**** you money".

    Essentially he made enough via investment banking to be able to say "**** you" to whoever he wanted, pack in investment banking and start writing.

    Another ex investment banker called Michael Johnson did something similar. He's now part of a think tank and advises the British government on financial services and pension policy.

  13. I've sat next to Taleb at a dinner once lol.

    The idea behind the black swan theory is to get people to consider what the impact of an extremely unlikely or rare event would have.

    If that would be catastrophic then you need to balance the impact vs the likelihood and assign greater importance to the impact.
