Whats your post count?

Discussion in 'Ideas + Feature Requests' started by Moose2, Oct 16, 2013.

  1. Also why not just try to get the forum runners to put a post count next to name? I mean then we wouldn't have spammy post farming threads. If you know what I mean ;)

  2. "True forum member"

We'll be is a forum moderator..

  3. You dont know who you work with? He's the only other one. (/).-)

  4. I, as an individual, would love to see this for the same reason everyone else does. It's fun to be able to see your post count and everyone else's, just to see where you stand among them.

Like Moose said, phpBB can do more things than are on ATA forums, and it shouldn't be too hard to add a post count number on iDevice, but I am not a programmer so my knowledge of these things are limited.

    Anyways I definitely supportī€Ž

  5. Noobs, it used to be displayed back in the day.

  6. I don't remember it? I started in 2011 on my old main that I lost.. Iphone broke and couldn't be transferred over

  7. Support, I'd love this addition, it's the sole reason I bought a computer.

  8. Chad, them was de good ol dayz

  9. As fun as it would be, I would think this is a great idea that is probably not likely to happen. Having programmed open source PHPBB before I know that the devs are pretty limited in what they can offer.

It is probably safe to assume the reason they are using this out dated forum framework was because of how easy it was to work on both the web and device in game. Not all forum software can be as integrated into an app as this version of PHPBB.

If the dev's started making changes to the forum software they could quickly reach its limitation and be required to start requiring the app to open a separate web browser to open the forums, and in my opinion that is not desirable, considering that KaW has to go through the "Reconnecting" process everytime you close and reopen the application.

I had this conversation with the support team while I was a moderator and they didn't say much but they did agree with me on this. Plus if they changed the forum provider it would be hell to migrate all the data and be able to retain all of the account data.

Could you imagine ATA creating a new awesome forum? But the catch is that you have to switch apps everytime to use it, your accounts would NOT be created automatically AND you had to start from a post count of 0 again???

Doesnt deadly or devil have like 16000 posts? And what about black hand extreme doesnt he have over 10k as well? I don't think that would sit well with most

Overall Moose I think it would be WONDERFUL to have post counts in game, but I think the cost might be more than most players are willing to pay for it...

Technically the devs could add a web browser element in game for forums but I think the scale would be way off and require a lot of zooming

  10. I believe that having a post count (excluding spams) next to your name could be a great thing, as you know who will;
    1. Reply to you quite soon
    2. Have experience with forums
    3. Have reliable information

This can only improve the game so
    SUPPORT

  11. Logical: thanks for that detailed and insightful post. That broadened my understanding of phpbb quite a bit. I certainly wouldn't want to try to port over all this information onto a new forum, as you're correct.mit would be terrible, and having to log into a separate app to View forum would kill it.

What I don't understand is this..... Please review chads comment below.

chad is not the only forumer to tell me this, so, we have had this feature before. If we had it in the past, why can't we get it back? It would appear to me to be well with in the capabilities of the development staff and the programs they use to return an old and popular feature, but, I free,y admit that I am not a computer expert. Kingdoms at war is Actually the first online game I've played, so any further light you can shed on this would be really interesting to me.

  12. If I remember correctly, the old KaW pack app (vintage one) had forums button as well. When you click on a plateau profile, you'd get the usual statistics (forum join date, post count, username). That was back along time ago, however. If cleaning out useless crap won't be a hassle, or something you'd be oblivious to, then I guess it might work out.

  13. Not plateau, player*

  14. Well moose, you see, there is god, and then there isn't god, so when isn't god and god talk to each other and discuss these things, something happens to our wonderful forums, sometimes they add, sometimes they attract. What will come of their discussions is known only by the developers, who can them with bribery and coca cola.

  15. Yeah when you click on someone like "RainbowMan" in pimd, it will take you to that page Royal is speaking of, but then it errors out and wont let you see the page

I think that the post count wasn't shown on the post itself, but you could click a username to see forum profile stats instead of seeing their in game profile

  16. That's exactly how it was, you will click on the persons name, on forums, and a page would show up that had their username, post count, date joined, and their most recent posts

  17. Where's the sense in seeing your post counts? It's the same like achievements or similar stuff, it's useless:p
But well, some people like to know how often they posted or so, that's why I SUPPORT :)
