Op you did break the law, it is illegal to pawn/sell a firearm that is not under your name. Best of luck to you bud. but honestly if police don't listen to your statement along with the texts you show them there is not much you can do.
Agreed. Also if you still have the money from the gun, the pawn shop might trade the gun back if they still have it. But your main issue is time right now, go to the police as soon as possible.
Purchase the gun back if it's still available, return it to your friend's dad and tell him the story and see if he will drop any charges, granted the prosecutor may pick up the charges anyways cuz he can then use it for political gain to sound like he's on tough on crime and especially gun control. Best to get a lawyer, don't ever enter a plea without legal representation or talk to any police officer or detective without a lawyer.
Yeah F the police and F your "friend" for lying to you. Keep messages, try to get the gun back to the guys dad & beg for mercy, get a lawyer to talk to tge police for you, and 86 that "friendship"
Sale of stolen or reported stolen firearms is a felony. Plus you filed false documents when you sold it as the owner. that can lead to a very bad time and put you into the ATFs database. I'd be surprised if you were not banned from future purchases.
