what to do with Adrian Peterson? opinion thread

  1. Vick did indeed pay his debt to society, and if he's now active in helping dogs, then great. A case could be plausibly made for him.

Adrian Peterson cut a plea deal, thus skirting responsibility. And, there is something particularly terrible to me about bearing a little kid until he bleeds out of his nuts.

Can Peterson pay his debt? I think he should. And part of that repayment should be leaving the NFL for good. He should be out there raising awareness of child abuse and being an advocate for non violence.

As for yogurt, your view seeks to be much more "libertarian". Saying what happens "off the field" is nine of our business is certainly a stand you can take, and it can be backed up to a certain degree. I just don't agree with it, but, that's the point of an opinion thread lol. I like reading what others think.

  2. the point I am trying to make is that none of them need to be forced to "pay their debt to society" that is a personal choice and we aren't the ones who can dictate his remorse. Once the man has paid his legal punishment, he should be free to do what he wants with his life, and if that means he wants to join the nfl, it would be wrong of us to refuse his request because of our discrimination to him.

  3. Tell him to join the cfl. Nfl sucks.

  4. He went too far yes. It's mentioned that this is a family sport. Well let's see them make it a condition that if he wants to play again he needs to attend parenting classes or something of the sort. But I truly believe that his case is being blown way up because of today's society. He isn't a criminal. He loves his children, he just might not know how to control his discipline measures. Let him play and move on.

  5. He shouldn't be jailed. Imagine being 4-5 years old and seeing your dad in jail. That would damage your confidence for a long time.

He should start taking some therapy and parenting classes and continue being an athlete.

Otherwise I don't care about this.

  6. I don't see what one has to do with the other. Just because he's done this doesn't mean he's any worse a player for it. Just because the NFL allows him to play doesn't mean they condone what he did. As long as he has completed his punishment as handed down by the court system then I see no problem with the man being allowed to return to his job.

  7. Seems like child abuse. ._.

Could anyone recommend a reputable source on this? I'd like to read about it and make some actual comments, but I'd like to use a source you would all approve.

  8. How do you post with diff colours

  9. He's a good guy. Truly. My mom is a principle and has a teacher. That teachers husband and him are cousins.

  10. In general the term "paid their debt to society" means they fulfilled a sentence or conditions handed down to them by a court of law.

This is not optional. You are forced to comply.

What is optional is what they do with their lives, how a individual conducts themselves. This lets us/you/I/them determine if the individual in question is remorseful, sincere, and deserving.

The United States is a very forgiving place. We do give second chances. It's just the way we have been.

  11. You people do realize these things are illegal right... I can't even comprehend the fact that anyone is defending a man who beat his 4-year-old at all. These people should never be allowed back in sports, it doesn't matter that he's a good at the sport, he broke the law. He shouldn't get special treatment for beating his child.

  12. Well I picked him up for my fantasy team so let him play.

Aside for that reason he is a dirtbag.

  13. First of all I do agree with you right above my post. Second of all he will go to prison for why he did and he will most likely be beaten in prison once the inmates find out he beat and abused his 4 year old son.

  14. Send him to Mage school.

  15. "Defending him" would be saying he did the right thing. Don't think anyone on here thinks he did the right thing. Disciplining a child is a good thing to do. But he did go to far and it has been brought to the authorities attention. That being said I believe he should be sent to some therapy or something and helped.

Unless I missed an article or two and he has been abusing his son for longer than we all are lead to believe

  16. Some of you people are making me consider softening my stance!

  17. You just might want to rethink it

  18. That's what I'm thinking. The law is the law. This country is supposed to be full of justice. Is a man who beat his child getting justice by not being charged?

  19. Give the NFL a bad look for letting Adrian Peterson back into the league. A well known child abuser?

Gives the NFL a bad image

  20. Beating a 4 year old with a switch all over his body is child abuse. If someone did this to any of your children, you would flip. There is no excuse for his actions. A spanking is an acceptable form of discipline but a beating is not.
