I agree with what avatar's saying and they explain the reason for the gap so well. I have past experience moderating other games myself and part of that included forum moderation. The game itself was far more complicated than kaw and more often than not evidence was needed to be pulled together to punish players. This meant we had around 100 moderaters or more most of the time. Funnily enough even though in-game moderation was harder in this instance most people focused on that because that's the part that interested them the most and the split was caused by preference not due to a difficulty difference. Kaw itself requires more mods and as has been said we need a couple extra people who can focus on the forums. Whether or not this means the revival of the forum mod is a different matter but overall I think it's clear why there is the lack of forum moderation. It's mostly because the forum community is only a small part of the game therefore expecting most mods to take part in it is too optimistic.
What color would they be? Orange is already taken by pvp so I'm thinking a darker green to distinguish them. I completely agree that we need more mods overall as well as in forums. It's far too common that I see WC bypassing go on for ten's of minutes with no feasible way to report them and stop it. What ever happened to kaw mods on palringo? I know that it wasn't a very profitable or successful app but it was still better than anything we have now.
Too much censorship but it is a 9 plus rated game so some subjects are already off the table...nobody really cares about what cheese wants or thinks is s good op or not,if you wanna have smart in depth political debate you HAVE to use this mmorpg forum to do so? Get a life
What's worse - a guy complaining about not being able to have debate threads in a 9 plus game, or a guy complaining about a guy complaining about not being able to have a debate thread in a 9 plus game?
I know of a place where you never get harmed A magical place, with magical charms; Kaw Forums, Kaw Forums, Kaaaaww-forummmss! (Take it away penny!)
Im going to go ahead and say hell yes. When forum moderators were a thing it felt like the trolls, spammers and flamers were kept at bay and happy healthy and funny chats would ensue. I think imitation cheese would be a good forum moderator because hes always been a player to post great threads to read and reply to in-between unloads
There should be a new added catergory into forums for " Politics " .And it should stay there and not bump into A.T everytime it is written on. A.T should only be for light hearted and fun threads. I think ruggy and kezzer would make great all round forum mods / worldchat mods.i think a new colour should be added to show that they are a merger for both like gold or silver exclusive mod colours. And cheese i know you would favour your own circle of friends .So you shouldnt never be given mod title privilage of any kind.
I agree with reinstating the forum mod position. Forum mods were able to keep the forums clean to an extent while also maintaining a peaceful balance for discussion. After the forum moderator position was removed, it opened the door to all trolls/flamers. Now, I see a lot of things that aren't allowed in forums happening and it just goes by unnoticed most times. I actually read the forum rules to better understand what could and couldn't be said/done on a thread in order for the threads I posted to stay alive and not be locked. Now I see a majority of rules being broke in threads. This alone has caused to me stop posting threads and commenting in forums.
Thanks for the shout, Clumzeh. Roni making the case for only allowing light hearted content into AT  Anyone else find that ironic coming from the king of KaW forum drama? Sad to see the flamers discouraging you from posting too, Toxic.
I don't think forum mods will come back. There were a few things wrong with the program overall, mostly just that forum mods could only do stuff in forums. The fact that I can do both now is a lot better. But, I do think there should be one or two mods that PRIMARILY look over forums. Like you said, Moose was our forum man. Drgn was next and I loved forums too, but neither of us were Moose. Now that he's gone there's definitely a gap. So I don't know what the solution is. Forum modding is no longer as convenient for me as game modding, but I try.
Not most mods, just some mods. I can name on one hand the number of current mods I have seen in the forums. The number is even less for those who contribute frequently rather than popping in to lock something. While, as Avatar said, I understand it's a lot of work - it is a job that needs to be done. If it is too much for the current moderators or they're not familiar enough with the forums or they're not interested in moderating forums, whatever it may be; someone needs to be appointed specifically to do it. This is actually an interesting idea and could be something for devs to think about. However I think restricting it to only politics would be too narrow, maybe controversial issues would be more suitable. If this was to happen, it may lower the trolling and derailing content. Players would have to specifically hunt out a thread rather than having it right there in AT. Plus the players who are actually interested in such debates can look there. One of the issues I see though, is what constitutes a controversial topic. Everyone's interpretation is different. Would it be restricted to off topic threads or KaW related also? It is disappointing that you no longer wish to post on forums. I imagine this is probably the case for others as well. The forum community should be growing with players who can be positive, keep it civil and make it a good place to be. Instead, it's the trolling community that seems to be growing. Was the problem of forums mods only being able to do things in forums a problem with the system or was it a problem with the people appointed? Honest question because players should know what they're signing up for when applying. Why was it really a problem though? If a player accepts the position knowing they can only do things in the forums then that was their decision? It doesn't enough of a reason to not have such a position. I think if forum mod was reactivated, it needs to be made clear their powers lie solely within the forums. If they wish to be a game moderator, apply for that position instead. I imagine the boundaries are made clear when they apply for or are offered the position. In any event, could it hurt to trial it again? I think there is too little attention paid to the forums. Eventually it'll drive the positive forumers away. I hope we will see you around more in the forums
I don't disagree with OP at all. It erks my sense of order that threads are created in the wrong place and not moved. Spam threads are locked but not deleted. Thread creators have no editorial control. The reporting function seems to be broken, or non-responsive. When forums become harder to navigate because of clutter then that's discouraging to use, remembering that not everyone who browses the forums actively posts. It's a great argument made well. However I'm not sure that there is a business case being made. I've never moderated, but over many years have been active in many forums and seen the hours of effort needed. When people behave the workload is less, users can self-regulate; for KAW...more bad behaviour would require more short-term resources to tackle that issue to even get to the point where people respect each other and the forum rules. I couldn't devote much time to that. Observing the reluctance of others to volunteer I'm guessing for similar reasons: we have enough RL commitments without the burden of unpaid babysitting. Maybe 2-3 forum mods is too modest. What about 20-30 instead? That's enough to effectively spread the work over 24 timezomes, and enough to think about compartmentalizing primary responsibilities (moving threads, deleting posts, locking threads).
^ you're not wrong, but we're far off from devoting that many mods into the game, let alone making them forum exclusive.
1 ME - I make trolls walk the plank 2 3 Forums need to return to the healthy banter of 5 years ago. People sharing glitches and bugs. Overall tone of forums can be summed up in 1) we love you Charlie (for now) 2) Apes Suck 3) Kaw is too hard, hand me more stuff 4) That's was a noob question, go rot and die or play pokeman 5) Roni channeling Anciene in a triangle of spew with Skinny and Onsey
I think Sync has the right idea with spreading out the workload. Problem is, moose burned the bridge and drained all the water it was built to cross, so ATA is probably (justifiably so) apprehensive about appointing new mods. And the pirate gets it
