When you Attack or Steal from another player, there is a chance you will receive items. Some of those items will be generated out of thin air and some of them will be stolen from the defender (with the amount stolen depending on the amount they have). This means that in the early stages, you'll be generating more than stealing, but as the weekend ends, most of your earnings will come from finding those players with the most items collected.
In order to earn Skulls, you need to reach a reward tier for collecting Sheaves. You can check the reward tiers using the in-game event tool (Click on the treasure chest at the top of the screen > Select the PVP Blitz tab > Scroll down and check reward tiers).
So if you want to be in the Top 100 PvE you have to do PvP, as at least 1/3 - 1/2 of Top 100 people will be PvP & PvP/PvE people!
It would be very difficult to maintain high earnings from PVE and reach top 10 in PVP. It will more than likely be used as an alternative way of earning for those that enjoy hitting other scrubs.
How is leader at 7000 already with xstals and actions the only way this would seem possible is if players new this was coming had alts get skulls via pve then opt in for their main to steal or is the lb incorrect or another explanation kaw admin?

I believe this to be correct. They max xtals on an alt or friends who are active in event. Eventually scythe drops which doubles sheaves earned. And there you go. Top person is just someone who has a lot more money and time to spend on the game than most other players. Might not seem "fair," but it is.
Note that in the beginning of the event, you can hit just about anyone your size or bigger that has opted in to be competitive. This strategy will not win you the weekend as active targets will begin to pay our significantly more as the Blitz progresses.
I say remove anonymity for leaderboard! Only have anonymity for events where you can't lose items because it doesn't matter. This will reduce alt farming
