  1. Upcoming War System Changes

    First of all, we would like to thank everyone that has given feedback so far. We went through all of the responses and there were lots of great points that were brought up. We have incorporated some of the suggestions into this revised design. There are other ideas that were given which we may yet still incorporate, but only after testing is done.

    Our plan is to implement the design below and allow the players that are interested to try the system first hand. Note that this is not the final design, but merely the first iteration of the new war system. We will be running a series of trial wars with interested players and will make additional adjustments based on feedback.

    We are planning on running these trial wars after the All Star Wars, for a period of three to four weeks. When the time comes, we will be providing additional details on how to sign up. There will be exclusive rewards and achievements, so stay tuned!


    Overall Objectives

    Our first goal is to make wars more exciting and rewarding for ALL players, regardless of level. To pull this off, we’re trying to refocus wars, so players can truly test their clan’s strength against another’s.

    To reach this goal, we are looking into several areas:

    Rewards

    Wars should be more than a test of your strength. That’s why we’re thinking about awarding extra incentives to those players who participate in wars...

    Weekly War Events

    Each week, we’ll be hosting war events. There will be no restrictions on who can sign up, and we’ll be matching up all interested players based on their respective levels. Of course we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to find a match-up if you sign up late, so try to SIGN UP EARLY!

    We heard the feedback on war durations, so we want to announce that these war events will be 12 hours in duration. However, we cannot offer different durations because it would imbalance Estoc’s Edge.

    For the start times, our plan is offer both weekday and weekend starting times, with a rotation on 12:00am PST and 12:00pm PST start times. The number of start times will be largely based on player interest. The more players that are interested, the more time slots we can offer.


    Estoc's Edge

    To reward clans for winning wars, we’ll be introducing a new clan-based bonus called “Estoc’s Edge.” Clans earn this bonus by winning wars in the new weekly events. The Estoc’s Edge bonus will give clans the following advantages:

    An increase in Epic Battles’ Item Drop Rate
    An increase in Epic Battle Plunder

    There will be 5 levels of Estoc’s Edge, with each level giving higher increases of Item Drop Rate and EB Plunder.

    The Estoc’s Edge bonus is not permanent and will expire within a week. If a clan enters the tournament with a bonus, and they win their match-up, they will move up to the next level of Estoc’s Edge. If a clan changes their membership by more than 30% within a week, the bonus will expire immediately. For example, in a 100 member clan, if more than 30 members either leave or join a clan, the bonus will expire.

    We have heard the feedback regarding the threshold of 20%, as well as the 1 week expiration period. For now, we have made the adjustment of going up to 30%. If clans are finding it difficult, we will look at these values again. The end goal is to reward real clans that stay together and participate regularly. We will be keeping an eye on fake clans that are setup to exploit this reward system, and that’s another reason why we enforce a membership threshold.

    Special, one-time tournaments
    We will still hold unique tournaments throughout the year, similar to the summer tournament. These seasonal tournaments will keep their own set of rewards, separate from the new weekly war structure. We’re currently re-examining how we do tournaments, and will provide more details once we work it all out.

    Strategy
    We want to encourage players to be as active as possible within wars. That’s why we’ll be removing certain abilities while you’re in a war, and adding new incentives for you to fight opposing clan members.

    Quests are locked during wars
    When engaged in a war, your focus should be fighting the other clan. Any strategies you use ` should be interactions between yourself and other players in the war. By removing the ability to do quests during wars, we hope players will focus more intently on the war at hand.

    Outside hits are disabled during wars
    We heard this feedback loud and clear. Outside hits will be disabled during wars.


    Inability to hit your own clan mates
    We also heard this feedback and agree that it will help with keeping wars true to what it is. This will also remove the ability for players to pin themselves at 0 troops using their clan mates.


    Crystal Usage
    The feedback we hear is that crystal usage can severely imbalance wars. To address this, we will be limiting crystal usage to one crystal per member per war.


    Incentivize Combat
    To encourage players to fight, we’ll be removing the permanent protection that exists in wars via the Defender Too Weak mechanic. Instead, when a player reaches 0% troops, they can’t be attacked (and can’t attack other players) until they’ve recovered to 25%.

    Based on your feedback, we’ve moved the 50% threshold to 25%. This will hopefully lead to a more active war. As well, we would like to clarify what 0% troops means. To be at 0% troops, a player will need to have both 0 soldiers and 0 spies. We will be examining the various builds to ensure that this is possible.

    Reward Combat
    Currently, there are no direct rewards for bringing an opponent’s troops to 0% in a war. We want to fix that! Clans that work together to finish off players should be rewarded. That’s why, every time a player reaches 0 troops, they’ll lose a percentage of their accumulated plunder in the war. To clarify, this effect would occur whenever an opposing player causes a player to reach 0%. Now that we have added our tweaks, this will only occur based on an action from the opposing clan.

    To acknowledge the player who finishes off an opponent, a notification will be sent to both the aggressor and the victim, whether it was an attack or spy action.

    Once again, we welcome all your feedback. That is the reason why we are posting this on the forum! Once the All Star wars are over, we will be providing information on when and how players can sign up to test this new system. In the meantime, keep the feedback coming.

  6. So a bunch of 200/400/0/0 alts can bring Ithaca to zero and he will lose plunder lol?

  10. Some users were concerned that this new system was done solely to increase crystal usage. We do not want wars to be won based on the amount of money spent. We feel that imposing a one crystal limit is a fair compromise.
     
  11. Ok now that the yellow was changed. I read through it, and THIS devs, is a good thread. These revised ideas are much better than the old ones. But you still never answered my question! If a pure spy has 0 gold out, will they still be DTW for attacks?? I think they should be. Nice jobs this time devs, I don't have any complaints just yet ;)
