Thor Is Getting Neutered

  1. They're doing skin color conversion therapy on captain America

  2. You're going to be real pissed when you learn Miles Morales is Puerto Rican / Black and gay.

  3. Not as bad as a black Stormtrooper

  4. Thanks for the comment. I don't really care a whole lot. I did read the comics as a kid, but I've long since forgotten the storyline details because it's been over 20 years since I read them.

That being said, I think it's important to have these discussions because things like this are what shape our attitudes and perspective on real life and I don't think people think about that enough.

I care because these things affect social change. Art has a long history of being the voice of oppressed people who don't have another way to express their views.

What I think is different in this case is that it's not art borne of true belief in the value of expression or even pushing an agenda. Rather, this is just another corporate money grab riding on the coat tails of the feminist and civil rights movement.

It's insulting to feminists and civil rights activists who put their lives on the line for so many years to affect the change we enjoy today.

  5. Made my day 

  6. If you haven't read the stories then who are you to judge the quality of the content in them?

Here's more for you by the way.

    Fantastic Four is gone.
Thing is in Guardians of the Galaxy.
    X-23 is the new Wolverine.
Angela is now the queen of Hel.
Ms. Marvel is a Muslim Inhuman.
Johnny Blaze is now an X-Man.
    Amadeus Cho is now Hulk.
Medusa now leads the Inhumans and has for years.
There's now tons of Spidermen running around from all colors and sexualities to even a Spider Pig due to the Spiderverse event.
Red Wolf (a native American) has been revived and is getting his own series.
Wolverine died but Old Man Logan was brought back from Secret Wars.
Arno Stark (Tony Starks brother) who is crippled is now also an Iron Man.

  7. Seriously. You just found out?
Don't tell anyone caps now flying around and kissing Thor
    Spider-Man has changed ethnicity
As have half of marvel. And some DC.
Old white men's dreams and hero's mean nothing. Blacks aren't allowed heros of their own. Just copy cat ones that marvel thinks will sell to them in the comic world.
Oh and don't forget she Thor won't get a movie. Same as black widow. Or merchandise. Disney don't approve of their female assets fighting and running around being a shining example of feminine power. It destroys their little subservient princess imagery.

Wow that was more than I planned on typing.
Please note no racial incitement intended.
Just disappointed that marvel went the cheap route rather than creating proper heroes for all members of society, without destroying what made them popular in the first place.

  8. @ DMC I believe I answered that above

  9. This is exactly how I feel

  10. Its not that they just changed things for the sake of it. Tons of stuff has happened. Most of these characters ALREADY existed and have just taken up the new role for them.

If you're writing a story about a universe for 40+ years eventually it will change over time. Thats just natural progression.

Same reason some of DCs best sellers right now are Black Canary running around in a punk band (really?) Batgirl running around taking selfies (really really?) And Harley Quinn being evolved from Jokers submissive sidekick (Anything for you Mr. J!) to a character having her own series.

  11. I like the Harley Quinn spinoff because it's organic.

Batgirl, supergirl, superwoman all these mutations of existing male characters are just money grabs, kinda like rehashed KaW events that everyone is so happy about 

Are there any female superheroes becoming men?

  12. They didn't destroy their heroes! Thats what you non comic readers are missing.

Also Luke Cage, Black Panther and tons more are all good African American heroes. Not my fault you don't read the comics.

Thor is still in existence. He lost his worthiness to the hammer by going on a rage to find his long lost sister Angela in Heven!
Steve Rogers finally aged due to the Super Soldier Serum being taken from him in battle!
Peter Parker is STILL SPIDERMAN there are just more SPIDERMEN running around now. Ultimate Spiderman, Spiderman 2099, SpiderGwen and SpiderWoman!

Its so easy to sit there and be like "blah blah blah it's not right" when you're absolutely ignorant of the stories since the early 90s.

  13. Well considering how their target audience is men, this should sell well.

  14. DC the only things that sold were Bruce Wayne / batman for 75 years. Grayson as nightwing and superman.
Gordon as robo bat. Lmfao. Never again. And check my old name. I'm a bats fan.
The only thing that's sells for DC in movies is bats.
The only guarantee marvel movies have is what everyone knows.
As stan once said. What every wants is for everything to be the same at the end as the beginning. But to have enjoyed the ride on the way there.
It's what sells. People love what they know.
Now excuse me while I go and have a heart attack that cheese and I agree on something 

  15. @DMC

Let me ask you this. Why do you think they made these "evolutions?" Just because I haven't read these comics in over 20 years doesn't mean I shouldn't be allowed to question the reason for the changes. There's a reason behind their decisions. They didn't just happen by chance.

Also, have there been any women been transformed to men?

  16. No one knew who the Guardians of the Galaxy we're and it sold.

The ONLY way you knew about THAT the I incarnation of THAT team is from the comics.

NO ONE knows who Jessica Jones is but she's now had not ONE but TWO TV SHOWS (Alias and Jessica Jones).

Most people didn't know The Watchmen!

Hell, most people didn't know AntMan nor will they know Doctor Strange or Black Panther or Luke Cage or The Immortal Iron Fist or Moon Knight.

THEY ARE ALL GETTING SCREEN TIME.

  17. I wish I was as cool as you guys

  18. I think they happened because some of the stories and characters we're getting overplayed.

They did include more races and sexes due to a change in culture, to deny that would be stupid. You on the other hand are saying they did it for a pure money grab. Its not like all of these characters we're invented at once. Sam Wilson (formerly Captain Falcon now Captain America) has been around for decades and has almost always held the same standards as Steve Rogers which is why he was the best replacement. It has to do with the characters specific ideologies more than the color of his skin.

Also to question the reason for the change without knowing the content of the change is like knowing the America Revolution happened but not why it happened. Just one day lalalalala oh we don't like you no more King! Freedom!

I'm just tired of people like you trying to politicize things I read when you have no idea about the context in which it was done. Me and most of my friends who read them have little to no problem with it for such cover story reasons.

I hate Miles Morales. Not because he's black, Puerto Rican and gay. But because he has no sense of humor much unlike Peter Parker who always did.

Also none off the top of my head but that's irrelevant for your second question. I'm saying it's not for a money grab but rather due to the change in culture with a need for a change in the comics. Same reason the X-Men have been separate groups since Xavier's death. Change is needed over a long period of time to keep readers interested. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you want to talk about things done for money talk about the Fantastic Four. The only reason they don't exist in comics is because of money now. Blame Fox for that.

  19. You're on the same tap tap game so suck it up nerd. You're one of us.

  20. I didn't mean it like that. I meant it like why do you think they evolved to have more women and racial diversity and not more white men? How are these storylines are written? Is there complete creative freedom for the authors, or is there some meddling that comes in from the corporate board of directors? You don't think the board of directors for Marvel came down to the writers and said "look, we need more viewers. Why don't you find a way to make some of the main characters black/female/gay/etc?"

I believe there is a reason and planning and coordination that happens as these stories are being written. I believe the changes and evolutions they make are planned and deliberate with an intended purpose of drawing in more customers.

You say you don't like it when people like me who haven't followed the storyline over the years try to politicize things. But from my perspective, I think it's pretty hard to argue that these changes aren't political, especially because you don't see women becoming men or diverse characters becoming white.

I think it is absolutely political and a complete money grab, riding on the coat tails of people who have actually fought for diversity.
