This is Why people quit

  1. If I had just started I'd benefit from reading threads like this.
The combined wealth of experience and talent of the ppl posting on this thread is significant. All of you regardless of differing opinions and feelings for each other clearly care about this enough to comment. This can only be a good thing.
When I started I piped in and out of the app infrequently for weeks until someone took notice and guided me to the right clan with the right ppl. I got lucky and got quickly hooked on the social aspect as much as anything.
Sadly I think for most new players they miss out on this as close family clans aren't as prevalent as they were before the days of equipment hunting and hte.
My solution would be to create a new player status of kaw mentor. All of the experienced players can sign up(change name colour in the same way mods and vk's do) and new players can be directed to a list of these mentors upon joining. The name colour change would help to identify mentors in wc.
I'm sure any new player would benefit immensely from 10 minutes pm time with an experienced account. It would save them from making those costly early errors and show them that this game has decent ppl. hopefully keep new players from quitting before they give it a real chance.
Also mentors could introduce new players to forums and show them that you big bad trolls out there are really big softies.
There is a wealth of information and experience to be found in forums that new players need to tap.
    Rant over

  3. I'm sure you're meaty enough all on your own Todd. You can joke, but if a new player approached you for advice you know you'd get all squishy inside and help them.
It would probably only last a few minutes until they annoyed you and you started farming them, but it's the thought that counts. 

  4. I would help I already stated that I've already done this ...your idea will never work, breeding ground for bad mentoring. You really trust idiots like Skinny who've shown they'll just take advantage of new players ie: teach them build drop and other BS also how to be whiny punks???

....whenever you ask for "volunteers" for a position where one person holds some type of seniority over another you're just asking for abuse to occur.

Bad the idea behind it is nice

  5. Again you keep referring to forums and how people in forums would be such a help...

....did you read what I posted?? DeadlyAngel, Catfish lol, and few others that I can remember, newbies always get mobbed and chased off in forums.

...I personally do not harass the newbs but have you not seen this from other people here?

  6. You're 100% true. If I see if someone is 100% honestly new and doesn't know something I'll help them but there's too many trolls.

  7. But the trolls are just lonely ppl who are hurting inside. Once they've got their own emotional support noob to nurture I'm sure they'll mellow out.
What's more heartwarming than seeing a noob being showered with unconditional troll love.

  8. Trolls are fine. As long as they're not literally effecting a newbs experince, potentially making them quit. Trolls who derail stupid/effortless threads, however, are amazing. (I'm one of them xD)

  9. Same thing happened to me when I first started. Having someone there to explain what to do certainly helps.

The mentor idea is a great idea. There's a similar aspect in another game I used to play. Basically you can turn the mentor thing on and off. When a new player logs on and needs help, they are directed to one of mentors who are online. It seemed to work quite well.

I think KaW could definitely benefit from something like this.

  10. Look lol ...if these filthy pie eating dysfunctional basement dwellers are gonna chase off their friends, family ...entire RL support system lol
What makes you think they'll be capable of maintaining a healthy mentor-protege' relationship online? 

    ....CATFISH!!!!!

  11. @Fred ...like seriously what if Roni decided to be a "mentor", remember this is a 9 game, you want her gettin' ahold of a 9-10yo n' teachin' em' how to spell??? \/
