  1. Yeah. When I first read it I thought it was a really original idea, to me it's just fiction that'll never happen in RL. And I don't really link the writer's mind to what they write so I didn't think like that.

  2. New ChaptR s00n, Gaise!

  3. Is that a hint about trolls in the chapter?

  4. Stora!!!!! How are you!?!??!

@Cheese I promise to catch up on your story soon. Can't wait to read it!

    How is everyone?!

I've been talking about the hunger games with a couple of my friends, and one or two of them did say what you're saying, Marodo (by the way, how are you?). It is an interesting way of thinking. But the way I see it, it's not about children murdering children. It's about rebellion. It's about rising up from the ashes. However, I'll be the first to admit that I like almost everything I read as long as it's decently writen and has a good plot. I'm kinda picky in the books I pick up so if I don't like it I don't read it. There are a few exceptions to that, but I did enjoy reading the hunger games. I don't like the hype surrounding it either, it makes the story vulnerable, but at least they did fairly well making the movie.

  5. Odd that you mention tht

  6. Psh hunger games..... I'l stick with arthurian legend and julius caesar books.

  7. Anybody read great expectations? By charles dickens

  8. this hunger games hype is crap. the result of a well crafted marketing campaign. I'm sure the vast majority of the easily excited teenagers who saw the movie and think its just awesome never read the books.

  9. I read the books. I consider the first to be powerful, if not cliché and about children killing children.

The second and third were utter crap compared to the first. I do not know what the heck the author was thinking when she basically brought in a bunch of characters, just to kill them.

The movie was horrible. The pin annoyed me. They got Caeser Flickerman's color wrong (it's powder blue, midnight blue is the 75th games). They skipped the Katniss/Rue bonding, which made the movie good. They gave absolutely no reason for Katniss to suddenly like Peeta out of the blue. THAT is the problem with a first person book in a third person movie. You miss too much inner thought.

So yeah. Hunger games hype= good marketing.

  10. The third and second Hunger Games were stupid.

She basically just killed people (really strong in the third one) to say to the cynical readers.
"I'm an adult writer and this book is adult."

Which is just idiotic to be frank.

  11. The first book = ****-ing great
The second book = Pewpewpew! Boom!
The Third = Everyone's dying, I'm depressed, wah.

  12. I'm good Irin, a bit lazy and busy. Not too much free time anymore...
    How are u?

  13. What was the basis for the rebellion.

Also, the main ideas of books i like the halo, lotr, star wars, and mass effect. Mainly because the stories are so well crafted that it makes u feel like this will happen or that this did happen an that these places are legitimate. It's like a seperate entire universe. But thats my idea

  14. Books were okay the movie was terrible.

Also talking about books anyone read Deception Point. It was a very good book. Best book I read by far!

  15. " Even human dignity is revoked as the masses are forced to watch their own children killing each others as if they were caged animals. That being said, there is little to no difference between movie goers who watch the movie The Hunger Games and the masses in the movie that witness the cruelty of the Games. Both are willing participants in an event that portrays the sacrifice of their own under the amused eye of the elite."

"Set in a dystopian future (why is the future always “dystopian”?), The Hunger Games paints a rather grim picture of the world of tomorrow, whether it be from a social, economical or political point of view. In short, it is a big-brotherish nightmare where a rich elite thrives on the backs of a starving population. Meanwhile, the perversity and voyeurism of mass media is taken to absurd levels and is used by the government as a glue to keep its unjust social order intact. Is The Hunger Games giving teenagers a glimpse of a not-too-distant future? It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see the elite are trying to take the world in that direction. Is the author Suzanne Collins communicating a strong anti-NWO message to the youth by showing its dangers or is it getting the youth used to the idea? Let’s look at the fictional, yet possible, future world of The Hunger Games."

-VigilantCitizen writing about the Hunger Games

and those are my problems with the book. Not to mention the fact that the genesis of it was not mentioned in depth, from what i read at least. Post your opinions about what he said.

  16. I bet in a while it's going to turn into team gale or team peeta. The stupid girls are already talking about it at my school.

  17. Team Gale... Just saying lol.

    iZaln

  18. losers who start applying twilightesq titles such as "team dumbass" and "team gay" to yet another teenage intended crap phenomenon as the hunger games movie should be publicly stoned to death.

p.s. the halo series of books was one of the most well developed and great story via multiple books I've ever read.

the only thing that is similar are the Dune books by dad and the ones his son did.

  19. Thx d_bo, i'll be sure to read them. I personallly like halo's storyline. Especially Reach.

  20. And they already have team gale and team peeta. But anyways, has anyone seen the centurion?
