Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] Elegant, I stand corrected.... There is something rattling around in your skull. Touché
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] I see a lot of explaining about how things work. You probably watched a program on the discovery channel on space or read/copy pasted an article on wiki and tried to pass it off as your own crap. Not much in the way of "why?" though? Lol What started the big bang? Why did it happen? If the universe has been infinite, how is that possible? How can things happen for eternity, over and over again? Why the hell is this whole cosmological dance happening? Think about it. Given the shear size of our universe, there's an estimated 400 billion stars in our galaxy and our galaxy is one of possibly trillions which means an unimaginable number of potential exoplanets ( completely jacked from a science program), all this stuff is happening all the time. Stars colliding or exploding, storms raging on uninhabited planets billions of light years from us, tremors on distant moons, planets forming around star systems that will never be seen by anything or anyone. You can see Jupiter in the night sky right now in the northern hemisphere, it rises in the east a few hours after dark and is visible most of the night. Why the heck is it there? It's just sitting there. What's it's purpose? Seems kinda large to go to waste, no? Nothing ever meaningful in terms of life happens. We are so wrapped up in our own lives and our own worlds, we stop thinking about why all this stuff is happening whilst we spin around a star through an empty void. "Did you ever stop to think what it all really mean" ~ Kanye West   *head explosion* :-D
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] You had me until Kanye West... Why did it happen, is as far as I know, still one of the biggest mysteries. I don't know why, I hope to someday.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] Geeze I leave and you guys solve everything. Now what am I supposed to do??? Ps I'm a chick
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] Ok here's the thing about anti matter - if the energy imput came from outside the universe it might be something we can't yet understand (Consider outside the universe the colour red is a fuel supply) Edited to add: and yes I'm aware a photon is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Maybe it works like gas outside the universe.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] I believe initially after the big bang their raged a war between ant-matter n matter to the death. They r direct opposites of one another so to speak n only 1 would survive. Thats what i recall from an interesting series on the universe if memory serves me well. Matter won out.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] Know about the neutrino collecting facility deep underground in Ontario? SNOLAB What to make of that?
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] The Greys...explains early origins n beliefs in the advent of gods maybe. After all humans were not known to be geniuses. Earlier SPIRIT asked WHY. Ok why do structures like pyramids exist in separate areas of the world with no evidence of ties between those cultures. No definitive explanation can explain the technology nor intelligence needed for construction. The sheer coincidence in itself is hard to explain n mysterious.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] But the Pyramids of Egypt were for different purposes than the ones in Mexico. The Giza Pyramids were built for the pharaohs to be buried. The Mayan pyramids were for the gods. The Giza pyramids were built in a straight row. The Mexican pyramids were not. That, and the fact that they are different shapes, and they align with different things. The Giza pyramids were aligned with the moon and the constellation Orion. The Mexico pyramids were made to be used as a calendar, and they are designed to match the sun on the summer solstice. They may seem like similar structures, but they were made by different peoples, for different reasons, and to align with different celestial bodies.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] The purpose does not explain the similarities or technology needed to build them. Hard also to think its a coincidence. Giza pyramids r inverted to Orion also. Explain how ppls in different places in the world built similar structures with no contact with each other. Stonehenge also a structure aligned for the solstice. All of the structures r easily the largest of their time.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] I believe you're mistaking the universe with the observable universe. The fact that the universe is infinite in size doesn't mean that it can't expand at a finite speed. The matter-energy coming from the singularity has been shown to keep expanding, but that doesn't mean that beyond such a point that we can observe there isn't a place that is still deprived from this resultant of the hypothesized initial singularity. This expansion only involved the matter-energy of the universe, but said space which this universe needed to expand in the first place was already there as part of the universe with which this initial singularity coexisted at the beginning. I also believe you made another mistaken assumption on your "proof" using the second law of thermodynamics. Given the evidence we have of how deep space (which is still within the observable universe) can't be at absolute zero temperature because entropy around it can still increase (second law of thermodynamics). There is still matter dispersed even in what we can call vacuum. When we get to the point where the expansion of the universe is too much, matter will eventually start breaking apart into its components. Then these components will further break down, and so on. The universe isn't infinite in age, and thus we are still traveling forward in time. Therefore, an infinite time hasn't passed since the beginning of this universe as we know it. This means the universe has infinite space to keep expanding for an infinite amount of time that has yet to come. It's just like considering a subset of real numbers defined as [0,infinity). It has a beginning, but it doesn't have an end. When the entropy can no longer increase, the universe will finally be at absolute zero, which is impossible (by the second law of thermodynamics), since entropy is always increasing. When the change isn't noticeable in the macro level, the change will certainly be noticeable in a micro level, where even smaller particles rule the physics of the matter at their size. In other words, the universe won't freeze to complete death, since matter will keep splitting indefinitely as the universe keeps expanding, which means the entropy will forever keep increasing. More space to expand to means that the number of micro-states of this universe will also keep increasing. Thus entropy will keep increasing as a conclusion. You have the right ideas, but I think your conclusions are wrong.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] Tldr. What I did read suggest that you think time is absolute, when in fact it is relative. We put time in existence. There is no time.... just our perception of what time is. We made time to make sense of sequence of events. Time is relative. Further more, how could the universe come from nothing? Energy cannot be created or destroyed... merely converted. .. I believe the universe to be a YoYO. What I mean by that is the energy created from the expansion Will die out... gravity will pull it back and big bang number 788,785,000,546 will happen.. and it will repeat for ever.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] Lol must have Well i must say that is some deep stuff n lost me here n there. Watching a show about black holes on NOVA years back gave me strange sensations comprehending the scope n size of what they presented. The feeling of awe was prominent with a want for more knowledge mixed in. Other topics such as solar winds n the magnetosphere also highly enlightening.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] Time is relative. All things can be reduced into a number form. Time uses a reference point n numbers to produce speed duration distance n all related other things we use in day to day life. Another way of using units whatever name is used n applied to what is wanted to calculate. Eg India invented the number 0. Consider the import of that for a moment. Humankind would be severely hampered without it.
Re: The Universe is NOT Infinite [Proof] if it's a theory, then why did you call it proof? it isn't proof, it's evidence. it'll be proof once it's a law, not a theory.
