Chapter 2 Part 1: I didn't know what I was thinking. We were both weakened, and we weren't Chuck Norris clones or anything. We were 13 year old kids. But we charged nonetheless, hoping to at least bring down the demon before we died. Before we reached the demon, a blinding light flashed across my friend and me, a small object floating in front of both of us. We reached out and grasped the small object. The light faded. The demon attacked, but as if an invisible force had come, it abruptly stopped. I opened my palm. On it, lay a small clear diamond, emanating the power of time as it lay there. I glanced over. My friend was holding a small topaz, which seemed to emanate the power of healing. With newfound strength and hope, I charged the demon, defeating it in three quick strikes. First, a kick on its legs, then a punch to the stomach and finally a throw across the hall. It disintegrated where it landed. The diamond flashed red. It was pretty obvious what it meant. We were both wounded badly. Her topaz also flashing red, it floated into the air. I felt my wounds healing, the topaz releasing its power. Part 2: I began to feel better as my topaz floated there. I thought my day wouldn't get any worse then nearly dying at the hands of a demon, but I was wrong. "Frankie, are you ok?" I asked him. "I'm fine, what about you, Daisy?" he replied "I'm okay. Just a little shaken up." A scream of pain pierced the silence of the world still frozen in time. We ran towards the sound. There, we found my best friend lying on the ground, her breathing faint and a sword impaling her through the stomach. She pointed at the window and managed to whisper one word. "Outside" Then she exhaled her last breath and died. I looked out the window. My heart seemed to leap up into my throat. Outside, was a living hell. There were fires on several buildings, the ground cracked, but worst of all, the sky was blood-red. All over the streets were demons, several armed with medieval weapons. "We don't stand a chance", Frankie said. "I DON'T CARE!! THEY KILLED MY BEST FRIEND! I'LL KILL THEM!" I had lost all rational thoughts that moment. "Daisy, calm down." "THAT'S EASY FOR YOU TO DO!! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT GRACE AND I HAVE BEEN THROUGH! SHE WAS LIKE A SISTER TO ME!" "Daisy, please" "FINE YOU COWARD! I'LL GO MYSELF. YOU'RE PROBABLY JUST TOO SCARED!!" "Daisy, listen to me. If we go out there, it's certain death. We're not even armed. All we have are two of these gems. It's not enough to confront even one of them. We're in no condition to after that fight." Slowly, I calmed down. "You're right. I'm sorry I lost my temper." "It's alright. We need to find a way to survive." With that, we started planning. Opinion on my feedback thread would be greatly appreciated
@4S, I never changed the gender of any characters. I might've misspelled 'she' as 'he' though. I have a habit of misspelling words often
Chapter 3: Part 1: As the sun came up, I walked down to the school's front entrance. I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked outside. Everything was back to normal, as if nothing happened. The sky was blue, and time continued. But I couldn't help but feel like something was wrong. The school was empty. "Daisy!", I yelled, hoping she would hear me. And she did. When she finally spoke, there was a hint of fear behind her voice. "Frankie?" "yea?" "Something isn't right. This place looks exactly like our school, but I don't think it is." "let's go outside and see" After seeing what I saw, I wished we never looked. The words where the name of our school usually was was replaced by words that did not belong to any known human language. The walls were graffitied, the bike rack on fire and acid leaked out of the electrical room door. "Daisy. We should split up and see what else is different." "um, okay." If I had known what waited for us, I would have never split up. Part 2: After agreeing to meet up at the front of what was once our school in 2 months time, he headed north, and I went south. We 'borrowed' some maps and compasses from the social studies classrooms. As I passed by where Frankie and I went to army cadets, I went in. A moan of pain was coming from down the hallway. Heading towards it, the voice started to sound familiar. And there she was. A girl that went to the same cadet corps as us. Yumi. Piercing her leg was an arrow. Another one was in her shoulder. A pool of blood was around her. But the thing that caught my eye was her necklace. An emerald around her neck, seemingly giving off that power of wind and air. Taking out my topaz, I willed it to use its power on Yumi. In a few days, Yumi was completely healed, scars being the only indication that she was ever hurt. With a companion at my side, I continued my journey south. Sorry for the short chapters, but I'm not a fan of writing very long chapters
Chapter 4: Part 1: It has been two weeks since Daisy and I split up. Still alone, not having seen another human, but rather having fought 3 more demons, I knew I was becoming weakened. I couldn't hold out against a fourth demon. Not without Daisy's healing gem. I decided to take the night in a tree. Halfway through, I woke up. There was a pair of people walking by. I listened in on their conversation as they sat under the tree I was on. "So, is this continent under our control?", a female voice asked. "almost, but we have a small problem." a male voice answered. "what is it?" "word is that, to our knowledge, there are three known remnants, and those three carry some of the sacred gems. Four of our Berserkers have been defeated." "we must deal with them, if we are to conquer the world. Even now, our berserkers in the past are taking over what is modern day Africa." A wave of anger struck. So these two were part of a group trying to take over. "Hey dimwits!" I yelled "up here!" I jumped down, knocking the man unconscious, but the woman was faster. Dodging my punch, she retaliated by what looked like darkness. The next moment, my entire body flared with pain. My screams pierced the silence of night. And then, darkness in my eyes. Part 2: I woke up with a start. Something wasn't right. I hope Frankie's ok, I thought. "Yumi, wake up" "huh? What?" she stirred "hey! Wake up!!" " yea what?" her eyes fluttered open. "I think Frankie's in trouble." "he can handle himself, don't worry." With that, she went back to sleep. Then, faint, but certain, I heard him screaming in pain. An image projected in front of my eyes. He was jumping from a tree, kicking a man and punching a figure too shrouded in darkness to see. The shadow launched a black electricity at him, and he fell, smoke coming off his shirt. A light enveloped me and Yumi. A second later, we were standing by an unconscious man, a weakened Frankie and a sinister shadow. There's another chapter guys. As always, feedback pls and Yumi's perspective will be added in the next chapter as Part 3
