Socialism vs Capitalism

  1. Nate, I never said you were being disrespectful, I said you were being dismissive. If reading is hard for you, I suggest you stop posting in forums.

  2. As you can see, the way your sentence was structured it implies I was being both disrespectful and dismissive. #english

  3. “You say no disrespect to their opinions yet you are just dismissing their information.” What part of that is incomprehensible to you? I already said both socialism and capitalism have pros and cons, what more do you want?

  4. Would you like the pull up the definitions of both dismissive and disrespect?

Anyways, what do you find to be better? Or which one is superior to the other?

  5. Fully read my post that provides statistics on the last page and I’m sure you can figure which one I think is better. Cheers!

  6. I have already, it’s just garbled nonsense. It doesn’t say which way you lean. Maybe you need to read it again. Or better yet, instead of asking for opinions and getting them only to shut them down, maybe you should just stop posting on forums asking for opinions altogether?

I’ll reiterate my question. Which do you think is better? It’s not a hard question to answer. You’re just being difficult because you’re cornered.

  7. This sounds eerily similar to an opinion. *gasp*

Anyways, “Both have pros and cons”, tell me which you think is better? I’m genuinely curious. Why do you think this? After all, thoughts are mere opinions. :)

  8. Nate you took the direct income tax for Americans at under 34k/yr and compared it to canadians making over 41k/yr including sales tax , property tax and social security

An American making over 34k usd gets taxed 25% , any Canadian making under 41k gets taxed 15%

When your 3 richest individuals own as much wealth as the poorest half of the country advantages are far from fair to use .

Americans dont get taxed less, the richest Americans get taxed so much less it skews the advantage.

That's the same reason I found capitalism funny , you dont get more money in the end, you still need healthcare, higher education (robots gonna take all the hard labour jobs) etc. You just pay it less efficiently, who's gonna get a better deal, one entity almost 40million strong or an individual/small health insurance company.

  9. @bella

At this point you’re just trying to cause a situation lol. Just read the post. I clearly lean towards Capitalism. Not hard to tell from the post. But I made it a big size and bolded it for you so you won’t miss it in this one.

    @grave

Yeah I’ve heard the whole “3 people” argument before. The point of capitalism is for people to work and acquire wealth. It’s not meant for everyone to make or have the same. Capitalism is an economic idea, not a societal one. Society should be equal, but financially I don’t think that’s how it should be. It’d be great if it was, but sadly we don’t live in a perfect world so unfortunately not everyone will get the same. That’s life.

Work hard and find issues that need to be solved. Bill Gates did it. Steve Jobs did it. Plenty of others did it. That’s what the point of capitalism is. Sure it has its failures, but so does socialism. From a historic standpoint Socialism has more failures than Capitalism. But again it tends to be a cultural thing on whether or not you lean towards one or the other from my personal studies.

  10. No situation, I wanted to know where you stand on it since you brought it up in your original post.

Being an American taxpayer, and many in my industry being American taxpayers, we don’t have an issue paying taxes or even higher taxes. We have an issue of where it’s going and how it’s being spent. Of course there are Americans who are against higher taxes, and that’s predominately the Republican base. They do have valid points on their stance due to this being a capitalist country. I won’t deny the fact that we are a capitalist country, but from what I’ve experienced in this country is that the direction and distribution of taxes are the largest issues regarding our tax dollars.

We have the worlds largest military/defense budget. It’s an astronomical amount for any country to spend each year. This is partly why American taxpayers are upset with how their money is being used for this country. They don’t have a voice after an election is over; tensions become high. There are key components to both capitalism and socialism, that in my opinion, could be tied together somehow to appease and benefit a larger mass of people in the country.

  11. I’m not sure which region of the country you are from, but according to most news sources the majority of citizens aren’t okay paying high taxes. We pay enough for us to get things we need. The problem is with what you said, the GOVERNMENT spending the money poorly. Now I’m not against military spending to an extent. We do pay a lot more than what should be necessary. That’s largely due to the fact we like to get ourselves involved in any conflict we can it seems.

Our founders even warned us of this saying that involving ourselves in European and other regional conflicts would result in negative effects. Well those are being displayed now.

Keep taxes the way they are, but change they way they are being spent.

  12. Military cost mostly end ups in sub contractors. When building ships or other military equipments sub contractor lowball their price. When they get the contract they will over price te contract by introducing new technology. Most of those technology already exist during negotiations. They just don’t let the military know so they can get more money. Overseas conflict its grey area because the corporation makes money from them too. War is an economic advantage for US. The taxes always end up to corporations while they don’t pay tax by using offshore loop hole

  13. It’s true Bella, you smashed my belief in your ability to have a discussion or argument that wasn’t full of faulty reasoning, misleading arguments or a loaded question in that thread...Well done, your participation trophy is in the mail.

There are many other examples of your half-witted attempts to set and control the narrative littered across the forums but they don’t have anything to do with this topic. Thanks for the chuckle though and merry Christmas!

PS: I haven’t seen any supporting evidence of a true, successful socialist economy offered in this thread. The reason there aren’t any is because there’s not a state on earth that are operating 100% on a socialist economy. They all have mixed economies that heavily depend on capitalism.

The best economic policy is one that encourages innovation, offers a leveled field of entry to its participants and operates on free market principles. Some oversight from a central government with the local government having more power is required.

  14. ella this implies you are saying he is being disrespectful because he is being dismissive. Otherwise there would have been no purpose of you quoting him saying "no disrespect but...".

  15. Actually the individual. This is because a group of 40mil is all inclusive of all the at risk people. When you file individually, in theory you don't have to pay increased rates for the people who are not as healthy or require more of the benefits, where as you do not.

I'm actually intrigued. I have a question about car insurance. In the United States, if you are Male and 18-25, you have the highest car insurance rate/ to which females 18-25 have less insurance costs. Is this the same in your country? If not, do you think the cost reflects the inclusion of aggravating or mitigating factors?

  16. I'd like to note that news sources are not entirely credible. I mean I get that this is Kaw but the majority of news agencies gave bias. Theres MSNBC on the way left, CNN on the mid left and fox on the way right. Theres an overwhelming amount of news stations with left leaning bias. Just be careful to choose information that doesn't just apply to your narrative. Thanks yall!

  17. A well dosed mixture of both would be the best imo. It always depends on many side factors like
    -which laws/rules are valid
-how good are the control mechanics working to make sure laws/rules are getting followed

Capitalism is very charming because of its self-regulation and therefore because of its functionalism. In easy words: it seems to work.
But if there are too less rules/laws it leads to a wildwest system where the strong and ruthless will succeed and the considerate and decent people get enslaved.
This combined to the tendencies in modern times with the monopolization it must be feared that we get an ultra monitoring state which is controled only by essential capitalism synonymous by the richest 0.001%.
We can observe how more and more goods are under control of private capitalistic systems. Even opinion-forming propaganda-machines like newspapers, tv, all kind of press are getting monopolized by the "Elite" to enforce their interests and form peoples awareness

Its is interesting to see how more and more populists pushing up and pretend to represent the simple peoples interests while actually stealing public state resources.

Human development is at an historical crossroad. First Time in history we have no more possibility to expand or move on. Globalisation is almost completed. When in earlier Times we were able to expand and to grow now we only can compress more and more. Growth -one of the flywheels of capitalism- will come to a natural border which is set by the limits of planet earth. The Environment already is near to a collapse which will bring us the biggest challenges in the future.

  18. Here is your capitalism.

  19. Op is obviously delusional
