Catch 22 situation, I support the 17+ rating. Problems arise when parents see the langue if a change is made & some parents on kaw wouldn't want their children playing if they made this change. Real problem in my eyes is that it puts extra work on the mods. They let a lot if things slide depending on the topic & the severity of the bypass. A new system that allows more usage of previously prohibited words will make "Tasteful Tanting during Osw's" & "Person showing off their Big Kid Vocabulary" more difficult & more Butthurt tears over the silence in question.
But not being able to discuss anything without it being deemed as 'inappropriate for a 9+ game' is a better solution? Killing off forums and players cause they feel restricted doesn't sound like any more of a solution to me. An age restriction will not stop people under that requirement from playing. If they're already playing they're not going to leave either. Who said it'll make them leave? We both know if they like the game, they won't care what the requirement is. But it gives the community more opportunity to talk openly without it being deemed inappropriate.
Well, kaw could be perceived to have: Gambling - spending $$ in a game to directly acquire in-game currency which can be taken away by other players, or can be used to take money away from players (I.e, strips). It's def a gray area IMO.
Problem isn't as much the age of players verses players abusing the system as always. They keep tighting the Tou Rules because players keep finding ways to abuse the system. Unfortunately they believe "One screws up & Punish them all". Example, 9/10 players could use a extend area of speech while maintaining a tasteful approach. Problem comes when the 1/10 player spams with the same language solely for the purpose of aggravation or "Because they can or want to". As I said I'm all for a 17+ rating & a broader area of speech. There is nothing wrong with trash talking between clans in osw. One of my favorite was a apoc/zaft one that was "suggestive"while not bypassing any words. It was quiet funny, not that I have a favorite in that osw (not sure if its still going or not, also why I wasn't spefic as to which side posted it). I'm all for things of that nature, what better way to stir your nf than to taunt your opponents XD? Mods work hard for little to no perks, this would definitely make there job more difficult than it is. Would also make things more interesting though lol.
Best example was the arrow betting in the Nomad Promo. Argument to that is technically you dont haft to spend money to make in game gold.
If i remember kawrectly to up the age they'd have to delete the game from the app store and re-upload it or something I also remember them saying it should be an 18 according to new stricter tou but because kaw was added at a less strict time or something
Apple (and I'm assuming the other app markets) do determine the age rating. If there are no parental restrictions on their device, they would only need to click the accept button when it says it's for 17 and up. If there are parental restrictions on their device I believe they would need a password to accept the 17 and up pop-up. Other than they they would be able to get away with it on the game itself as long as they don't say they're underage.
PIMD, FC and Gaw were all 17 right? Except for kaw. Yet kaw is most successful. If kaw were 18 I'm sure it would be like FC. For reasons unknown
I should be all ages. Back in the day Chaos University was run by pbjelly who at that time was probably around 11 or 12. He did a great job.
Why can't we just opt in to see the dirty language if we're over 18? Then it's 9 with ******** like before except the over 18 crowd sees the dirty words, and can trash talk each other. I'm more at a loss that we can't trash talk rather than no cursing. I don't mind the filter it's just the loss of the fun head games we can no longer do.
Well since it limits language as in cuss words and vulgar words. And no animated killing i believe it should stay as it is. It also teaches kid about Strategy.
I'm more concerned about the people who currently play and with the age ratin increase... What will become of them? More importantly. Has anyone ever noticed that cheese posts controversial opinion threads and nothing else? It's as if he enjoys watching us argue, is he even still posting?
