  2. I'm not sure I believe this story but for the heck of it say I do.

    My words would be a grounding for a short period is sufficient. He failed and deserves a punishment. Done deal.

    Now where is your grounding from everything? Because as a parent who says they take grades so seriously you should have been more on top of things and not allowed it to come to this. So I say you are a  parent.

    Ground yourself for the remaining summer break and unground him. Seems fair since you failed your kid.
