  1. The world would be a better place if everyone would quit being so damn sensative. With the exceptions the government, police, irs..ect nobody can force anything on you. Period...doesn't matter who says do what when and how. It's not forced. Unless the teacher had a gun to the students heads?

  2. Allah wasn't a person…I think you should educate yourself further before speaking on topics you know nothing about.

  3. I feel like you're implying that all non-christians are bad people who don't care about anyone.. Which is in no way true..

But to keep on topic, in my opinion, the teacher has no right to tell children to pray at all. Young kids are gullible and don't know any better. It's possible for them to believe anything they are told, especially by someone who is there to teach them. However, I don't feel like the teacher was meaning to pushing anything on them, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions.. Though it's not right for him to say that, you should just inform your daughter that she has the right to believe what she wants.

  4. Honestly if the teacher was worth his salt he would of offered animal crackers to anyone who prayed to Jesus. Much more effective.

  5. My mistake. Muhammad the prophet

  6. And no aqua that's not what I was saying at all. Just saying nothing about the Jesus concept is bad. And a teacher talking about prayer is better than one who doesn't care about his students "which is in no way a comment about people who aren't Christian" simply saying there are some real ass holes out there teaching kids. But this one doesn't sound to be one of em. And no he probably shouldn't have brought up religion in school, or maybe he should have? It seems in many places that other religions such as the Muslim religion are getting special privileges to have prayer in school. What's good for one should be good for all no? Anyway..Whole point here is there isn't anything negative about the concept of jesus. So nothing to be angry about, some people believe, some dont, some believe in others...and kids are going to be confronted with this through they're entire lives. Best thing parents can do is introduce they're kids to religion, educate them about it, share your own views and leave them open to believe what they wish. Can't hide your kids from religion though, it's everywhere, and they need to learn about it from somewhere so that they may make their own opinions on it.

  7. A teacher cannot legally push a religious belief on a student but some teachers tend to stretch the limits with reading from the bible and such things. This however would be a crossing of that line although he may just be saying what his religion calls for not pressing it on your daughter

  8. Anyone else get black butler from this ?!

  9. Christmas is a Christian holiday no matter what argument you try to use. If you don't want you or your family to celebrate not only the birth but also the teachings of Jesus . Don't. It's not only his birth we celebrate but the message of peace and good will to all. Not just those of our faith.

  10. Maybe you should of read the entire thread. I stated what my family celebrates christmas as.

I was brought up in a Christian home. I've chosen to make christmas (a magical time of year) a celebration of family.

The root question is nothing to do with wether or not Jesus was real, or why you should celebrate christmas. The main question is as follows quite simply.

In a religiously OPEN school run by the state NOT church, should a teacher be saying you have to pray to Jesus?

Yes my daughter may have changed the wording, but she's a clever girl and quite obviously felt that she now has to pray.

  11. Just move past it and worry about a problem that's actually a problem. Your stuck on something trivial that amounts to nothing.

  12. Christmas is just a commercial holiday anyway.

  13. Remember that this is hearsay. You don't know for sure the teacher "told" your child to pray, you only know how she interpreted it.

  14. Most of us Japanese are atheists. Glad we don't have to put up with this religious crap Americans do.

  15. If I was gonna pray to anyone, if pray to Allah. Want a crack at those 72 virgins

  16. Dont christians have 101 virgins or so?

  17. If my daughter is being coerced or pushed into a religious belief without being informed and given options, by a person In a position of authority whom she already likes and gets on with, then I wouldn't say it's trivial no. Having being in the same said position throughout my entire childhood, bein told that this religious belief is right and that I must pray an go to church etc, I do NOT want anything forced upon my children.

Is it so wron of me to expect teachers to keep their religious beliefs to themselves and not push them upon innocent and naive children?

Maybe I should start calling it religious grooming.

  18. If one is so bright and wonderful then explain why pure catholic counties like Spain don't use Christmas lighting or trees, they celebrate it completely differently to countries who had pagans within. Face it it's a pagan holiday, with the only thing that is Christaian is Jesuses birthday that never happened in Christmas.

  20. You've got a point
