PS was big for pwars because they never went dtw if they had any gold out. They are good for OSW because as long as they have no gold out or any allies, they have nothing to lose except time. While the opponent is busy scout bombing the PS to keep him pinned, all they are doing is weakening their own spies to be left open for assassinations and steals. The only good reason to be a pure spy nowadays is when a hansel gets stripped or if you want to open for attacks in wc.
I found a pure spy in an osw was great. sure annoyes the hell out of the guys trying to get through. was pretty well left alone.I found that a single attack building just bleeds plunder. if you want try it. its nothing to tear down one or two sos and rebuild t4 on your lowland.

Pure spy is for the I dont give a (insert choice expletive) kinda guy who just wants to continually harrass other people. Superman was trying to troll you. Go no attack pots no allies and no gold. Then start hitting people. That is if ur going pure spy.
