Filthy maggot, you're comment is to dumb to deserve a response. Khajit, I didn't say every incident, just Alot of them. That's the problem. Cop shoots kid with a bb gun, now cops are bad.
If it was just the one case then I would agree with you, but there's dozen if these cases which put the us police force in a bad light and are surrounded by questions.
If you happen to be Black or Hispanic and live in a ghetto area you'll know police don't have your back. I can't walk down the block of my house in East LA with out being stopped and asked where I'm going. That's racial profiling and it needs to stop. Before you go and say well you shouldn't be dressed like a hoodlum, since when is jeans and a button up make me look ghetto?
High stress job = fatalities. To a large degree police mentality is them or us. Can you really disagree and fault them when they live in an environment where a large proportion of people choose to bear arms?
The problem is that the police these days are trained to be terrified of guns. If you get pulled over and searched, and say that you have a gun in the vehicle, expect to be thrown around and interrogated as to why you have it. Now don't get me wrong, they should respect guns, but when a kid comes to the door wi a Wii remote rifle, and you start popping off rounds, it becomes obvious that the training is haywire.
@Op You're right every time we see a cop we should get down on our knees and bow down to them. Too many unarmed innocent people have been killed. For instance I'll use the Gardena police department, they profiled a group of Hispanics as bike thieves. They got out of the car guns blazing and shot and killed the guy for freaking out. He had his hands up they told him to wave them in the air, they shot him. Truth be told he was helping a teen with his bicycle, not stealing the police never asked. Gardena has a shoot first ask questions later policy. However it's ok, because Gardena has another policy that says they will disregard what witness' will say if a cop says otherwise. COPS WILL LIE TO KEEP OTHER COPS OUT OF TROUBLE!
"Stepping up and joining the academy to become a police officer and make a difference" isn't the point. I don't want to be a police officer because I want to do other things with my life, that doesn't mean that I should have to settle for officers that don't know how to do their job correctly or are itching to abuse their power. I've never said that there are more bad cops than good cops but that doesn't change the fact that to be completely honest, police presence doesn't make me feel safe. I live my life perfectly fine without them and the second they're around, I know someone is in trouble or someone is going to get shot, or someone is about to lose thousands of dollars in crap court expenses, or someone is about to be inconvenienced by being brought to jail on false charges just to be released and have them dropped. Plain and simple, there needs to be stricter laws on when and how police are allowed to use force. That or we need to develop some sort of moral test that denies certain persons the ability to hold the position of peace officer *EDIT* And yes part of the problem is that they are trained to fear guns so strongly. Why shouldn't they? Everyone else does too. People have self preservation at the highest of their desires. But then again if you feel that in a dangerous situation you're willing to sacrifice someone else in order to save yourself when you never even know if the danger is real, maybe you're in the wrong line of work. I'd like to think that if I was willing to put my life on the line to defend people I wouldn't be just as willing to kill any of them that I think might hurt me.
couldn't have said it better. what makes it worse to me is that i know people from other countries that are actually afriad to come to america because of the media exaggerating situations like this.
Guess those aren't the same tourists who are afraid to come to America because there are too many nut jobs with guns? Or the ones fearing the need of possible medical attention while here since our for-profit corporate hospital model bankrupts families?
Are you saying that it's a bad thing to be white? Are you saying it's a bad thing to be a male? It seems you have a problem with racism and sexism.
Thought this was relative to the thread. Thought I'd share it. Pretty controversial gif. Funny too. However some people feel cops are actually like the one in this gif. Some people think it's all a set up. I do not. But I do think there are cops that take things too far and exceed their duty by letting their confidence/attitude affect their duty.
It's good people are finally realizing how dirty the police are. Cops have been abusing their power and getting away with it forever. It's about time they start getting some justice handed to them. They said when cell phones became widespread we would finally see videos of Bigfoot and the loch Ness monster, they seem to have disappeared and all we are seeing is that police brutality and abuse of power isn't so uncommon.
