Not nessacarlly true, my rings were the oldest things I had & Bp came first, then helm, One ring, then shoulders, second ring, main hand, then gloves, now legs & trinket. All random draw might be more coincidence than your older equip was being outdated. (I kept Talon & Mesmeric rings equipped up until the last chapter (one before the new equip was added) so with that logic rings should have came first)
