I would not argue against those policies. As long as it is not viewed as a cure all. What about all the guns already in circulation though? Do you think all the gun enthusiats that have bought from third parties are going to go register their stock piles? Or all the thugs are going to bring in their 9's? Easier to ask I guess, what about the ones already in circulation.
The ones in circulation can only be done by attrition, sure, some law abiding gun owners will register their guns....crims obviously wont but they are more likely to dump their guns after shooting someone. Of course, if you said that you could only buy ammo from a gun store for guns that are legally registered to you then you would either have to register your guns, make your own or obtain it illegally. It will take some time for sensible lasw to actually kick in - Australia was lucky in that our laws changed drastically in 1996 and we didn't really have the same gun culture as the USA and therefore not the same guns in circulation that you do now. Australia would probably have a different outcome if we tried to change the laws now.
nooooooooo if it doesnt fix all gun problems like instantly then it obviously cant ever work (pout) how dare you offer things that might work over time (giggle)
Is it easier to illegally cross an open land border or hide aboard a ship for weeks, then be thoroughly searched by customs enforcement?[/quote Clutching at straws now , on previous threads you have stated Australian gun control hasn't worked...now I guess it does because we are surrounded by water. My question to you is if as so many Americans have posted you own guns for self protection , if I decide to holiday in the States as a foreigner am I entitled to own a gun for my protection and if not why?
Before I respond, please name the thread title and page number where I allegedly said gun control doesn't work in Australia.
And wasn't it posted on more than 1 occasion that gun laws in Australia are a failure because of statistics plucked from somewhere that supported the pro gun position?
I do because you were discussing it with me - you even tried to PvP me. That thread seems to have disappeared though.
@Cheese I remember that argument used by not only yourself but quiet a few of your pro gun supporters , I believe you along with others were informing both Australians and British players how our countries crime rates has escalated since gun control measures were introduced therefore those changes were failures
I only read these threads casually as it's not such a big deal to me so I ain't gonna go looking through the multiple threads about this subject.
