Looks poop, it's basically just a water jet on a board... A proper hoverboard should be one that hovers on dry land by itself effortlessly, shame we dont have the technology for that ;-;
I just want to say that if you time travel back to the past, and your mom hits on you.. Please.. Just.. No..
Think the floor has to be metal for this to work so no wont go commercial. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Lexus is calling it 'Slide' Hoverboard is indeed so 80s... But this Lexus tech is still pretty freakin cool and will probably apply to many other things in the future... Like trains etc
While it's cool, it's not exactly new technology and has been done on a smaller scale before. Quite a few youtube videos on Quantum Locking Superconductors, which is what this is. When magnets get cold enough their magnetic fields lock in whatever position they're currently in, even if that position is floating. It also works to suspend them upside down. It requires it be kept very cold (the smoke you'll see is likely from liquid nitrogen), and to be used on a metal track/surface. Still would ride one (and severely injure myself) if given the chance.
Going to college for mechanical engineering myself, got really exited about the future possibilities of this tech. Tossed it into off topic for fun.
