I'm Japanese. We have a rice based diet but most world foods are around, although I haven't seen many Mexican restaurants in Japan. Compared to Americans, I would say the Japanese diet is much higher in Mushrooms, seaweed, Tofu, green tea, and pickles. Americans generally find our food to be too salty and Japanese find American food to be too sweet. We like to put our food into separate smaller dishes instead of piling it on one plate. Japanese really like food that looks aesthetically pleasing.
This idiot knows nothing. Japanese stations don't serve hamburgers and hotdogs like American stadiums do. Hydra, why post on a thread u know nothing about?
Long ago, when beef was not readily available in Japan, whales were eaten a bit. Now, with all the whale saving going on, whale meat is a mega luxury item served at only posh restaurants. A small order of whale meat would put you back 50-60 bucks. I would say today the average Japanese eats it once a year at most. 40 years ago, it was much more common.
As for fruits, Japan had most western fruits. In addition, we have a huge variety of oranges/grapefruits that most Americans have probably never eaten before. Kinkan is a tiny orange smaller than your thumb. You eat it skin and all. Other Japanese fruits would be the big applepears called Nashi, four seeded Biwa apricots, and persimmons that I don't think most Americans have tried before.
These are bee lavae. They are eaten in only one small area of Japan. 99% of Japanese would never eat bugs.
