Why did you list EB first? I'm on to you Eclipso.. This is an extremely well thought out, highly detailed thread, and I fully support anything that will help improve new player recruiting and retention. Well done.
Despite my deterance towards them, EBs are how new players are going to grow early on and therefor the importance has to be explained.
No. I would say it would be unfair but no ones done anything  so you may be gauranteed gold if you give a great thought out tutorial that you want to do.
Tutorial- Step 1. Welcome to Kingdoms at War! This tutorial will explain the game mechanics so that you can get a good start on making your way up in the world of KaW! First, choose a banner. [Player chooses banner] As you progress through the game, you'll get access to more banners, which you can switch out at will. You will also get something called equipment. Equipment will be explained more fully once you get some. Step 2. Now that you have a banner, it's time to explore some land. Tap on of the lands adjacent to your castle, in the center. [Player taps and explores land.] Each land costs more gold than the last. You will need to hoard large amounts of gold to get more land. But first, let's construct a building that trains your troops. Tap the land you just explored. [Player taps the land, and is faces with the screen shown on current tutorials- choose to build one of the three tier 1 buildings.] Step 3. Now that we have troops, we need spies. Tap another land adjacent to your castle. [Player taps another land] Tap the land once again. [Player is met with the spy building screen.] Build the spy building. [Player builds spy building.] As you build, remember to focus on play style you enjoy. If you want to focus on spies, build spy buildings. You can build most buildings you have unlocked on a land you have explored. More powerful buildings must be built in the highlands, Hoarfrost lands, and Abyss lands. These lands will be explained once you get there. Also, each troop building can be upgraded 3 times, and each spy building can be upgraded 4 times. Step 4. Now that you have a working military, it is time to attack another player. [Player sees the three players to choose to attack. Each "kingdom" gives 3,000,000 gold. Step 5. Now that you have some gold, a military, and a kingdom, let's name it. [Player names kingdom.] Step 6. (Activated when player opens up Quests.) Your kingdom can perform quests for some gold. You get a bonus for each quest. Step 7 (Activated when a player opens Forums) Forums are where you can meet other kingdoms! Forums are slightly hard to explain, and they can be learned about here (link to devs page on forums.) Step 8. (Activated when player opens clans.) Clans are powerful groups of players. Choose a clan you want to join and tap Join. If they accept, you are in the clan. Step 9. (Activated when player enters a clan.) Epic battles and wars are activities done in clans, that are best described here. (Link to devs explanation of EBs and wars.) Step 10. (When player opens BL.) Battling other players can be fun! Press either attack or spy to attack another player. Step 11. (Activated when player looks at spy activities.) Spies are very versatile soldiers. Scouting reveals info about your target, stealing takes their gold and fills your treasury with it, and assassinating kills enemy troops. Step 12. (Activated when player opens marketplace.) This is where you can buy items to help you in combat. Step 13. (Activated when player opens allies.) Allies help you in combat. Hiring an ally gives you a defensive, offensive, and spy bonus, but they cost gold to hire. Step 14. (Started when player opens chat.) Chatting is how you communicate with KaW! World chat is how you talk to the whole world of KaW! It costs 1 speaker to say something in world chat. Clan chat is where you communicate with your clan mates. It is free to use clan chat. Ally chat is where you talk to your allies and your owner. It is free to use. Step 15. (Activated when player opens any wall, pm, etc.) Each player has a wall, where another player can talk to him directly. You can follow a payer, and if they follow back, you are considered friends, and can chat in private messages. You can also block a player, meaning they can't comment on your wall or send you private messages. Step 16. (Activated when a player gets any equip.) Equipment is earned through epic battles as rewards, through purchases in game, and through events. It gives you a stat increase when equipped. Here's how- First, go to your profile. [Player goes to profile.] Next, go to your equipment. One will have a message on it. Click on that slot. [Player does so] Lastly, choose the equipment you want to use. Just tap it or click it. [Player equips.] You will stumble upon many pieces of equipment through this game. Choose which to use wisely. Step 17. (Activated when player unlocks Highlands.) Congratulations! You can expand into the region of the Highlands! You can build more powerful buildings, train more powerful troops, and explore more lands. Step 18. (Activated when player gets Hoarfrost.) Congratulations! You can expand into the Hoarfrost lands! These lands let you build more powerful buildings, train stronger troops, and explore more lands! Step 19. (Activated when player unlocks Abyss.) Congratulations! You have access to the Abyss! These lands let you build more powerful buildings, train stronger troops, and explore more lands! Step 20. (Activated when player opens Alchemist.) The alchemist allows you to cast spells that help you temporarily more powerful. You need Mithril to cast spells. You can buy a maximum if 6 Mithril, and you can earn more through war. Step 21. (Activated when player opens Mage.) The Mage lets you enchant equipment in exchange for Aqua and Inferno. You get these in war, epic battles, and you can purchase them. Step 22. (Activated when player sees someone get silenced, banned, etc.) That person got silenced because he broke a rule in the ToU or RoC. Those are the rules that all KaW players have to follow. You can read the whole ToU and RoC here. (Link to ToU and RoC.) Step 23. (Activated when a new Estoc Trial, War, etc. is started.) Estoc is a special kind of war, which you can read about here. (Link to info on Estoc and whatnot) Estoc has high risk and high reward. Enter if you dare. Step 24. (Activated when all the rest are activated.) Now that you know the basics, it's time for you to go alone. If you have any questions, it's a good idea to ask moderator or the help section, or even a powerful player. Now, go and claim a piece of glory! Gather your courage, raise your banner, and charge onto the battle field in the name of glory! What do you think?
Thanks! Now just read the rest. Sorry about wall of text. BTW, i like Eclipso's art design thingy. (Not sure about the actual word. No disrespect meant.) I don't want to spam this thread but I think Eclipso would be a good VK. Support to Eclipso4VK!
Suggestion to help with tutorial. For my idea to work, KaW would need an update and the devs would need to do a screen of players. One of the main things that keeps people in this game is the interaction with people around the world, so why not use that right from the start. A bunch of responsible players would need to be selected so when a new player comes on, they can select a tutor who is online at the same time they are. Here's how I see it potentially working. Devs would need to run a search through forums and whatever other data they have on players to check they don't have past form for being idiots and generally unhelpful to others. Sort of like a VK or Mod, but obviously more of them would be needed (VKs and mods would automatically qualify). Admins and clan owners in successful (long running?) clans might be considered in this initial screening. Then, when a new player comes on, they could select one of these players to show them the ropes, talk them through what they need to know. Existing players selected for this could have an additional info page, like a clan page, to help a new player decide who they want to use for help. Now, I know that there's a risk of some idiots putting people off, so that's why an initial screening is needed to check someone doesn't have past form for being like that. Also, there's a chance no one will be available. However, I do think that if you can show people the connectivity with other people straight away, KaW would stand a better chance of recruiting, but more importantly, keeping new players. The devs could keep some basic data on the players who are tutors to see how successful they are in terms of new players staying in the game and how many times their help is sought. New players could leave some helpful feedback about the help they received. Clearly there is potential there for people to use statless alts to derail this aspect, however an activity monitor could be placed on the account posting feedback. If the activity of the account suggests the account is real and not a statless alt created for trolling purposes, the feedback given could then be viewed as valid and displayed.
The guy above me has a pretty good point, but the game is waaay to big for that. There are sooo many new players a day, we would need each VK and Mod to have a huge amount of "students." If the game was a few years older, then you would be on to something, and it could only be a temporary system, because a lot of new people came around really quick. Other than that, and you're on to something. No disrespect meant.
So your handing in the submissions on April 1st… EVERYONE! IT'S AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE! OP IS JUST TROLLING YOU!!
I like to think that humanity is better than that. And I respect Eclipso to believe that. But I'll keep it in mind.
