  1. By the way you describe how unusual it is to have a 'sausage on bread', I'm guessing you aren't in Australia?

  2. Ramen mixed with Mac and cheese :)

  3. You forgot pasta with everythinf! Chicken, cheap steak, anything on the side 

  4. Try Bistec (idk the english word for that steak google translate) with mac n cheese, those side pasta helpers and stuff. Its cheap and it looks fancy too 

  5. They're not always healthy, though.

  6. Beer (like Milwaukee's Best!) and Cheerios..

  7. Bread with potato chips! Yum!

  8. Ramen and Egg Noodles with Butter and Ketchup. Mmmmmm soooo gooood

  9. Well alcyone, unfortunately here in America unhealthy food is way cheaper then healthy food :/

  10. Then why is fruit 50 cents per pound, but chips are 2 bucks per family size?

  11. Microwaved egg sandwich.
I prefer bread on my hotdogs also.
Ramen is a staple in our household.

  12. The healthy stuff isn't really that expensive, you just can't buy the packaged stuff for convenience.

Fresh veg is dirt cheap. A head of broccoli is about $2, a giant Yam is never more than $1. Broccoli, the yam, and 6 eggs can be a supper for 3 days in a row. Plus you actually get nutrients, not just calories.

For the vast majority of students on a budget, eating well is more than affordable, it just takes some effort (I do understand - there are some who still can't afford that)

What blows my mind is the students who will spend $50-$100 on liquor each weekend, and then complain that they have no money for food.

My wierdest concoction - frozen hashbrowns, frozen peas and carrots, a can of tuna with hot sauce. All cooked in the microwave. It was so simple and cheapit started showing up on my table regularly

  13. Shredded wheat cereal back when it looked like a large bail of hay. We used to have to soften it with tap water before adding skim milk, because milk was too expensive

  14. Fried potato sandwich....

  15. When I was a kid we were so poor I had to make myself sugar sandwiches.

That's two slices of bread with sugar poured inside.

  16. That's awfully diabetic...

  17. Jail soup that I still make to this day. DOLLAR STORE ziplock bags, chilly beans, onions, ramen noodles, cayenne pepper, summer sausage, pepper, salt, garlic, curry cheesey chips. All bought at DOLLAR STORE. Mix any variation sometimes if you get bored.Cut all into small pieces. Put mix variations in bag, add a little water, set out in direct sun light for an hour depending on outside temperatures. When done cut small edge off of bag and enjoy. ;) Also great for camping. We would usually play cards or tell jokes. But it got us all through the day. :)

  18. 1. Yep
    2. Yep
    3. Yep

  19. I remember cracking acorns open and salting them.

  20. No way.. Scrote08 stole my post! Haha No way could more than one person could try frying hash browns w/ tuna fish! (But they should, because it's surprisingly good) lol, enjoying the posts - and taking notes 
