He didn't get "Woman of the Year" because he was a gold medalist. He got it because he had the "courage" (the word tastes bitter when used in that context), to strangle his man bits and get surgery.
Wont do much at all. The real problem is the resale of ammo. You can restrict sales all you want, but if you have stockpiles of ammo, thats untraceable.
That is what courage is all about? Hmm. I thought it had to do with lions and tigers and bears. Bruce wasnt even a good dad to his own son. He was washed up, and no one cared about him. So what did he do? Put on a dress and hire a plastic surgeon, so he could be paraded by his kids like a freak show, and be the cool hipster dad they always wanted.. With a dress and slumber parties. If that's courage, then what do we call our armed service men and women fighting terrorists?
Exactly. This has gotten downright ridiculous. It doesn't take courage to do what he did. It takes confusion.
A few weeks after 9/11 there was an Onion article released which was titled something along the lines of "devastated country wants to believe in stupid BS again". This was in reference to all the media attention focused on celebrities in the 1990's (and which still exists today). Media stopped focusing on the government and international events and instead looked at Tom Cruise's marriage and other stupid things. Today we see the same thing with all the coverage of Caitlyn Jenner and the Kardashians and the Royal baby and Bill Cosby's court cases. Caitlyn Jenner did not deserve it. No famous person deserved it. I find the worship of celebrities in America (and the rest of the world) is disgusting. The fact that people like the Kardashians or Paris Hilton make millions for doing nothing pisses me off. Another thing that pisses me off is the fact that many people don't care about political or social issues until their favourite singer or actor gets behind it. Before Caitlyn Jenner changed genders, there was no debate on Transgender people. Now there's a lot of debate about it. That was one good outcome, I guess...
She* Damn y'all are insensitive. She does make it harder for any transgendered persons (like myself) to get the things they need. In my opinion, someone like Laverne Cox should have gotten woman of the year.
SHE is still a bad person and does anybody actually care about someone in the military not winning the award or is it just that SHE is trans?
He hasnt been dressing like a woman for an entire year, but somehow was given a woman of the year award. Wouldnt you think that someone winning a women's award should have grown up fighting the battles women fight each day? Would it have been more honorable giving a female award to perhaps a female marine or navy special operative that fought for the rights to die alongside men in the top brass of our armed forces? No, a man was given the award, meaning not even past honoree women believe real women deserved such a title. All of the women in the world got crapped on by a man in a dress stealing the entire spotlight, without ever going through any of the life experiences women face.
Let me just put my two cents in. Caitlyn Jenner got woman of the year. Bruce did not and could not. Bruce is a male. Caitlyn is a female. If you are going to talk about her, please be respectful. While I don't think Caitlyn Jenner is a very good person, I do think what she did was very courageous. Now, was it deserving of the Woman of the Year award? No, probably not. But if you can't tell, the transgender community is high on the social radar. So maybe the Woman of the Year is bias based on popular trends, but you have to admit. Caitlyn was brave coming out as transgender. She does, after all, hold a gold medal and is already famous. And maybe she encouraged other transgender people to come out. And that is a big deal considering the usual mental health of these people TL;DR Caitlyn is courageous for coming out as transgender, but probably doesn't deserve the Woman of the Year award.
I find it strange that a group of female past honorees would vote for a man to be woman of the year. A man was voted over other well deserving women, by a group of women. What does that say about them?
Is it courageous if I come out as a straight male that has 2 kids .... No.. But if I come out as a transgender I'm woman of the year I'll be honest I couldn't careless about his sexuality or wether he's male of female that's his decision why be rewarded for his life choices of sexuality. The whole story of him changing gender is a total farce
Bruce or caitlyn jenner or whatever can do whatever she wants with her body and what not. But all the tv shows about it and all the news articles and all that crap. It'a too much, it's just attention seeking like she is the only transgender in the entire world. No she does not deserve a courage reward for being transformed into a woman. Nothing against transgenders, but caitlyn jenner as a person absolutely disgusts me
First off, i am being repsectful to my religion by calling him bruce. Second, courage to face what? He was praised for what he did. He didnt face adversity or criticism.
Military people are praised too much. There is no draft. Just do your job. IMO teachers are the real Heroes.
