And not everyone has that much money either =/. or nob.... IMO, any person that got top 5 in any of the official game wars should be invited in to join.
Spies, or anyone that could open as a farm in general, can easily make top 2000. Accounts that reset multiple times can make top 2000 (i.e. top half of the completions lb) no problem. Pure spies would have a hard time, but a Hansel build that converts to pure spy in 30 seconds can easily make the top 100, with enough battle victories. And the idea of it being open to anybody... I realize their determination of who's in is based on popular voting and not strength on a lb, but imagine the NBA All-Star game being open to anybody who wanted to be in it. C'mon. Fighting alongside your friends instead of your enemies, again, think of how an All-Star game works. You don't pick your sides. That's part of the deal. And it's part of what makes it more interesting. A big part of team play (clan play) is learning to work together and surrounding yourself by people who work well together... in an All-Star game, it's a whole different animal, it's about taking the most talent and the most power, and working as a team even though you are in no way a team. But for that match, you are a team, like it or not. That's part of what makes it special. Majesty, I was excited to see this thread today, I thought for sure the devs were not gonna be able to make it happen, with all the updates that have been going on and are in the works (and that people are tired of waiting for) and their schedule already... I'd assume they would post more on this thread at some point before the war, at their discretion as always. we'll see! It's great that this was announced enough in advance that people can put some thought into what strategies will be the most effective, what issues to expect to encounter, whether they'll work in a team or they'd play as a lone wolf, what to defend against... Locking rosters is a non-issue, preventing merc'ing is automatic, but the issues of people opening as farms, using outside help, and/or stripping allies, those are probably not so easy to prevent. The ally stripping thing though, what is the intention there? To leave your opponent in ruin? I can see arguing that a stripped lb player isn't going to be effective in war, but I would like to point something out... and hopefully this will make it perfectly obvious to everyone why stripping doesn't accomplish anything FTW in this war... A hypothetical scenario. I enter this war mostly as I am now, generally around the middle/lower-middle of the allies lb, loaded to the teeth with every pot, more nob and crystals than I could use in two days... I'll change my build around I'm sure, to something that has the potential to earn something more than garbage plunder. So here I am, in the all-star war, and somebody's going to strip me. Aside from it being impossible since I'll be active pretty much the whole 48 hours (I'm going FTW), let's say you strip all my allies and I don't know how to deal with that and I somehow lose all gazillion dollars of my money. I have a gazillion dollars banked in all pots. I can unbank $5b and hire any ally at that price, yours or someone else's, one that you stripped from me, whatever, and be right back at max plunder in under a minute. And I could do it again and again, if you could somehow keep hiring my ally and stripping my cash instantly, which you can't... even if you could do that, I could still be unaffected by it again and again. And since I'm gonna be active the whole war, it's not likely you could even strip me once... you could strip me, but you couldn't get the cash away. And that's the thing, the whole point in strip-farming someone is to destroy them, to make it so they're ruined. That's the key in a war like the current Big War, but in a system war, and especially one like the All-Star game is gonna play out, that's misfocused energy. The key is to earn plunder, and to prevent your opponent from having sources of easy plunder. I really don't think it's going to be possible to prevent your opponent clan from earning plunder, I think both sides will end up with huge farm capability from players on each side helping the other side by acting as a farm, maybe even as an act of contract like you might expect from a Mercs or Assassins Guild type service clan. I have a feeling it's gonna be about one thing plain and simple, who can go 48 hours without sleep. And I'll bet the bot detection will be maxxxed out. I'm just guessing here, this is all just my speculating, I wanna make that point if it's not obvious. I'm not really able to guess the devs any better than anybody else is, and at the end of the day, all this stuff can change at any time based on decisions they make. Right now, the best anyone could be doing is to think about all the different ways to play this war as it sound right now, and to guess about ways it might change (roster stuff, outside hits stuff, will each side have an Owner and/or Admins-- that could be huge) and to plan for how to fight those types of wars if each possible alternative were the case... and it's all just educated guessing. This war is gonna rule, I think, and am so happy to see Majesty's idea being put into action. I really thought it wasn't going to, for a long time now, and was happy to see that it is! Guys, unless you're a software developer and designer, you're probably not realizing how much work has to go into making something like this even exist, much less be awesome like this probably will. Once again mad props to the devs for this game and all you do to make it so great!
Rajang time to start paying attention in math classes. Assuming 24/7 game play one can make about 576(mental calc, apologies if it's wrong) wins a day. It would take less than 15 days to get 7k wins. And I emphasized 7k wins cos most people have more than that amount of wins, not because I'm telling someone to get that amount. Anw, point is, it's not hard to get into top 2k. if you reset or whatever just screw it, the war won't make much of a difference to your kaw life anw.
Half stripping (or totally) stripping someone with 0 spy def pots makes a great farm... even if it's only for a little bit. Sure, it's probably not going to be the absolute top of the roster (you would hope those people can stay awake for 48hrs), but it is a great tactic. More gold out = more $ for spies. It also should be a great deterrent for people that want to join for the achievements and stuff but won't be active the whole time.
Thanks for the interest everyone. To address some questions: 1. There will be 400 people involved in the war in total (200 on each side) 2. Right now, we have limited it to the top 2000 players, however we will expand it if we do not have enough players on each side. Please keep posted. 3. The reason we don't allow you to choose sides is because of the potential for collusion or cheating (e.g. OSF planting) 4. We will balance out each side's roster so the overall strength and build balance is similar 5. This war follows the standard war system rules. We are not preventing outside interference. However, since each side will have a mix of players from different clans, clan interference should be minimal. 6. We will be watching this war closely. Cheaters are kicked from clans. This should be pretty fun.
Thank you kaw for clearing that up but still, you should have different tournaments for weaker people, it's really unfair to have an acheivement out there that you can't get unless you are in the top 2000 at a particular moment.
Okay, that response seemed to indicate that opening yourself as a farm to the opposing side is considered collusion and is prohibited. Yes? That already changes everything. Especially because it makes stripping relevant again, so long as your side doesn't have sorties who pay good plunder to a T3 build that doesn't need ally bonus to get wins. Everybody who's thinking about joining up is getting to at least 1000 of every def and spydef pot, at least like 2k or 3k of spydef if you wanna play it right, yes?
Maybe you guys could do another war for the lower tier guys a week later. They shouldn't miss out on the fun, or broaden the requirements.
Will their be team leader? Team chat? Maybe only make it so the top 10 each side are leaders, only them can post. Im guessing that the chat would be super spammed otherwise, 200 active people would be alot. If its only the 'leaders' that could post it would be easy to talk about targets to hit. Also if the group wanted to make a chat room they can all use pal, if someone was to give away the pal it is the same as them giving away clan information from cc so yeah..
