Don, her whole basis for refusal is flawed. A Christian would do it and pray for the couples salvation. If you don't allow people to commit sin then they cannot fin salvation. Christianity 101. The judge jailed her for contempt of court, refusal to obey a court order is an offense punishable by jail time. Case law is more important than congressionally passed law as it is done by law experts, NOT politicians. Oh my god, imagine a world where law was only allowed to be made an altered by people vying for the publics votes..
You guys just keep saying the same stuff over and over again. Ever page over and over. The repetitive nature of this thread is amusing. So with I'll leave with a big LOL Top Cardinal Warns Feds. Hand off our religion. (Unrelated) She is going to keep refusing licenses, until the request she made under the Religious Freedom Act is met. Now she has people guarding her from federal arrest. This is because of the stubborn nature of people not unlike the ones you see on this thread. She won't be arrested again is my prediction. If any activist show up for a marriage license they will be denied with no repercussion. This will go on until her rights are met as well. That is how it is playing out right now. Theory is out the window. My only opinion is that she needs to able to do her job. The legal framework is there. Let's get it done. That way no one is crying or complaining. Gay rights Christain rights Human rights. Freedom to be who you want to be.
Religous freedom is a great thing as long as everyone believes what you believe. Everyone has the right to practice your faith. This is nothing more then an attempt to force people to abide by a certain set of beliefs. Kim Davis is violating the very rights she is claiming to protect.
If she was found in contempt of court for not obeying here oath and was jailed for it until she complied with that judge to issue marriage licenses then how come the judge let her out of jail what the judge should have done was fine her part of all her salary but instead went above trying to make a point Church heads can issue marriage licenses on behalf of the government so does that mean a homosexual couple can go to them and do the same thing and if they don't comply they will be thrown in jail for contempt of court?
^ they have a solution. they need to sign the EO or call for hearings in Kentucky. The state legislators are the ones stalling. At least that is my understanding. That EO would take her name legally off of the marriage licsenses. She will file, but not sign. Kentucky state law already had a clause, and/or mechanism to make this change. They make that change, and any gay couple can get a marriage licsense in the office from Kim Davis. She just won't sign it, she won't need to under the provisions made. It will still be legal according to the state. So it's state rights versus federal law. It is played out often in the states.
No Don, it's like a Muslim store cashier being told it's illegal to not sell pork And instead of just asking the manager to be changed to a different part of the store they use threats and abusive language to stop every other cashier from selling pork, telling them it's wrong even if they are a different religion, then that person gets a court order saying they have to sell pork if they decide to work at that store again, so they go back and use more threats and abusive language to stop the sale of pork which is in contempt of court which can be considered a criminal offence. That's exactly how it is
Don we all know if she wasn't in jail when this was going on. She'd get a gun and things would get serious really quick, probably a national tragedy.
