Just a question on thought process

  1. Imo, there is no difference. Death is death. The problem with this area is both sides are on two different sides of Abrahamic religion. The history there dates back centuries, and the militants today (on both sides) are channeling hatred and prejudice passed to them from their ancestors.

I don't condone either side's violence, because the real casualties are the non combatants, their children, hospital facilities, and the cultural history of both peoples that is being destroyed by needless bombs.

  2. Fair point. And true. However, the terrorists purposely surround them selves with civilians, musing them as human shields so that they can feign outrage when those civilians die.
I have no response to this, so, this point stands with out my challenge
My answer is no. And the reason is because nit every nation should be allowed to have nukes. Is Israel as clean as the wind driven snow? No way. But, I personally view Iran as a bad actor and an enemy state. Of course I don't want them to have nukes. They will probably use them. Is it fair that Israel has nukes? No. Its not fair, but neither is life.
Its a matter of perspective, true, but the real question is this..... Will Iran having nukes threaten America. That's the real issue, and the answer is yes, and, since Israel is an American ally, they get the nukes and Iran doesn't. That's kind of what happens when you don't stand with team USA, and that the commentary if a Canadian! Lol.
I think I read you correctly. Your not pro nuke for Iran. You do, however, take umbrage with Israel having nukes. The issue to me, is complex.
Personally, I think the Brits screwed up after WWII when they created the state of Israel. They pretty much ensured there would be a forever war there when they did that, and now, America and its allies simply need to try and deal with the mess as best as they can, but there are no good answers

  3. FYI moose, the Brits gave the decision of what to do with that area to the UN I believe. It was the UN that failed to act on it's own suggestions and plans (britain included)

However, by suddenly and completely withdrawing from the area without a stabilising influence taking over, we did effectively start an endless war.

  4. I don't think the UN leaving caused the endless war. The endless war has been there for ages. The problem was, after WW2, some wise UN saints decided that splitting Israel between two religious enemies was a good idea.

  5. I'm not pro nuke for Iran or Israel.

I'm simply saying there are two sides to the story and if we expect to solve the problem we need to consider their perspective. Everyone is up in arms over the Iranian nuclear program, but no one says a word about the Israeli one. Netanyahu constantly calls for war against Iran for basically trying to do what his country has already done. And nobody ever points this fact out. If I were Iran, I'd be a bit pissed.

And yeah, it's a complex problem. It doesn't help when we only consider one side, nor when people get blasted for speaking the truth that the Israelis aren't entirely innocent here. Me, I'm not pro Israel or pro Palestinian. I'm pro peace. And that's going to require concessions from both sides.
