Is Trump Really that Bad?

  1. The bible often says that it's ok to have servants, which in older translations is "slaves" i believe.

But it also mentions how you should treat your servants well.

After 7 years set them free it says, it also tells you to give them what they need to get back on their feet. (In my words of course)

  2.
"However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you.  You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land.  You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance.  You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way." (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

    Its really quite blatant actually.

Also love how you call only Cynder out for not citing sources when many bold claims have been made here.

    Edit;

"If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years.  Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom.  If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year.  But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him.  If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master.  But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children.  I would rather not go free.'  If he does this, his master must present him before God.  Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl.  After that, the slave will belong to his master forever."  (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT)

    Edit; (for GoldenTroll)

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear.  Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ." (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

"Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed.  If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful.  You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts.  Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them." (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT)

  3. That's the old testament.

  4. I wasn't done. There's tons more.

Edit; I mean really, the Bible is in parts of it (Old and New Testament) a slave obtaining, owning and operation manual.

  5. So is it a situation where Republicans can't be trusted because many follow Judaic-Christian principles, because the Bible only postulates treating slaves with respect rather than outright banning it? In my opinion, Republicans can't be trusted since their campaigns are paid for by bug business like WalMart, Exxon, etc. I don't like corperate Merica. Nor do I like strong central governing power. I just dislike both sides of the political spectrum based off facts like the majority of voters. Now gimme my Seals and Xtals and im sold.

  6. And the Old Testament is cited as to why God hates gays and therefore they should not be given the same constitutional rights in America

    Make up your minds.

  7. That's right both parties are corrupt. They both take our freedoms (patriot act, aca ). Wake up and make a stand America!

  8. On treating "slaves fairly" in Biblical context.

"When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished.  If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property."  (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

"The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it.  "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly.  Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given."  (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

Funny actually, you can see many of the same ethics held in Biblical slave ownership and how they translate into how many of you suggest our free society should be.

  9. I think too many bigots are Christains, and too many people are bigots about why they dislike the bigots who are Christains. I know good, moral Christains, who dont hate gays, believe slavery is evil and can completely defend those beliefs. I think people who use holy texts to justify things that are wrong like being a hater arent truly following the purpose of the text.

  11. A debate on biblical slavery might make a good thread. This thread isn't that.

  12. He asked for citations of where the Bible endorsed slavery. I only delivered what he asked for because unlike most people on here I've actually read the thing for study. Not trying to derail, heck in the last post I made I even made a bringing it back to the topic statement to keep it on topic.

Either way don't complain about the topic of discussion if it was specifically asked for.

  13. Exodus 21:16

"Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in posession of him, shall be put to death."

    Collossians 4:1

"Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a master in heaven."

    Exodus 21:26-27

"When a man strikes the eye of his slave, male or female, and destroys it, he shall let the slave go free because of his eye. If he knocks out the tooth of his slave, male or female, he shall let the slave go free because of his tooth."

The bible says that a slave must serve 6 years and be set free, if he came in single, he will leave single. If he came in married, he will leave married. And as you can see no man can be stolen them sold into slavery.

  14. The one thing that the bible preaches most is love and equality.

  15. Donald Trump spells both centralized power and big business power. Whoever votes for him needs to have a pretty good self interest for it.... *emails his campaign asking for seals and xtals in exchamge for the kawmunity vote*

  16. Exodus is Old Testament is it not?

  17. GoldenTroll, if you look at my previous posts I added a post and did an edit just for you also.

The 6 year policy wasn't absolute either (only applies to Hebrews and later on Christians), many ways to work around it.

  18. That's great. And what do you think slavery was then exactly?

  19. I think it was slavery. Where do you get me insinuating it wasn't slavery from? Its human ownership of humans.

As I edited into it and you yourself quoted. The 6 years only applied to Hebrews (and Christians later only applied it to themselves). Thats why Heathen slaves and foreign slave trade was more valuable.
