I don't recall being upset and saying murder less openly isn't a rule If anyone is being defensive here it must be yourself.
No he isnt if u take a piece of tape put it where there is a fingerprint it copys it then all u have to do is press down on it
^Can a fingerprint really be recovered by using sticky tape? I always thought it was a movie thing and I just spent like 5 mins googling it and there's no definitive proof.
Yeah i wouldn't use it yet...still too early for me. I wonder about this technology too, are banks & computer companies, etc authorised to release the prints & biometric information to the authorities upon request? What if this goes further & the government has access to our dna at any time if dna scans were implemented? How much further information would you give for your security?
lol i could rattle off sum conspiracy theories but idk what they really will do with it, all i suppose i know is that there is potential for trouble in the technology.
There's a potential for trouble with anything. Everyone feels they can blame technology because it's everywhere. The root of the problem is people with bad intentions. Or if you can maintain this mindset, set off a massive emp and send us back to the stone age. Again won't solve the main problem. Hah
yeah but you can't eat an apple if u dont have an apple, true? & i'm not saying all technology is more trouble than its worth but it is something to wonder about so you know what you're in for. I don't really believe in having more than what's basically neccessary with technology or much else personally, but if others want to attach themselves more materially to such unreliable services and products i say go for it. It's only been resulting in the state of crappy security, glitches and hacks that have lead to making cybercrime more of a problem than terrorism in the world today lol. But hell i guess most ppl will be distracting them from me when the mess hits the fan so i can't complain too much lol
Apple statement. I'm not sure what you're trying to say there. I don't want people to "attach themselves materially to unreliable services and products". Lolwut Cybercrime is more of a problem than terrorism? I don't see cybercrime taking hostages, blowing up buildings and civilians, killing troops overseas or hijacking planes and flying them into towers harming thousands. Cybercrime is bad, sure but I don't know what you're thinking.
What i meant was u can't cause trouble with technology if you don't have the technology, bad or good has nothing to do with it for me. I said other people can but i won't be investing my time or money in it unless it becomes more neccessary. And yeah as of last year or the year before i think the UN listed Cybercrime to now be there highest priority over a second place terrorism due to the devastating economic and social effects its having while only seeing large growth. It's a fact terrorists dont affect nearly as many as ppl as cyber criminals do these days.
What is there to discuss? The prracticality of an average person using biometrics as a security method in their phone? I think the incidence of people sharing fingerprints is a much lower number than, say, the incidence of ostensibly different master locks using the same key, so different people with similar/same fingerprints seems to be a moot point to me. I think biometrics is largely a convencience feature with security underpinnings more than a security feature with convenience underpinnings, seeing as it's generally faster than inputting a password or pin. Also, if there's a will, then there's a way. Whoever posted about the risk of a thumb being cut off could easily fabricate other extreme scenarios in which a secure system is compromised. Hasn't anyone seen a spy tv show or movie? They steal eye balls to bypass retinal scanners. That's so outlandish that is almost irrelevant. Sure, we could kidnap a person and steal their thumb, but why go to such risk to possibly get a monetary profit? Why not just rob a bank? Or is the purpose of the topic to discuss the idea that we're never truly secure in anything we do? At any given time, our technological privacy can be invaded if someone has the desire to do so. Does that worry anyone?
Cybercrime isn't as severe but I do think that it is more abundant. Terrorism doesn't affect as many people compared to victims of cybercrime? I'm not so certain about that.
I presented a passage, it is your opinion on the matter. Take that how you will. K Depends if you're a faster texter lol I was not the one who started the cut off finger talk... People can talk figuratively. I say play along and use their logic against them. Originally this thread was about security flaws and a random fact about fingerprints however I guess we're talking about privacy now. Speaking of there's going to be a new legislation with the isps selling your browsing history to the highest bidder.
It's very much possible. It depends on the surface though, a non-porous surface you are able to pick up a fingerprint. How well or how much of the fingerprint depends on the tape and you How do I know? Had to do it for a forensics class
Cyber crime is actually the fastest growing criminal industry on the world. You don't see them taking hostages and killing. That's because you don't hear about the hospitals they hack and blackmail for access for patient files. It is a real threat that unfortunately is growing. The more automated society gets. The more capability you put into the hands of malicious cyber criminals. Tech is wonderful in some ways. It has enabled modelling of disease and potential therapies far faster to explore. It has enabled mass communication and transfer of ideas. But don't be under the illusion it comes without a price tag. Humans will exploit every advancement that society makes. Criminals learn and evolve just like everyone else. Just because the crimes and the effects are not as visible as terror actions the affects are very real as are the victims. The tech has enabled many criminals to commit crimes relatively risk free. Life is literally a balancing act. And the faster we evolve the faster we must learn what compromises need to be achieved to maintain that balance. Kaw is a prime example of that. Look at each ee season and the exploits so many used to gain any advantage. As the saying goes. The price for freedom is eternal vigilance.
