The Earth was even worse before. Volcanos, earthquakes, tsunamis are not as sign that Earth is dying. Its a sign that Earth is still a young planet.
That doesn't mean the end of the world. Just means we're long overdue for a plague, it'll kill about half of us then the rest continue, happened before gonna happen again
Who exactly is "they"? You gotta love these Noobs who say outrageous statements without referencing it to anything. I could say "they predicted 60 years ago that Kate Upon would show up at my house and start slapping my ass with a gerbil." Just as valid as the statement you just made.
If its about food supply at this point only 36% of suitable surface is used for crop production. So theoretically Earth can support on 3 times bigger human population. But in fact the potential is even higher. A wide part of the surface used today is in 3th world countries and exploited using the middle of 20th century technologies at best. So there is enough potential to increase the production on the surfaces cultivated today. And besides the surfaces that are reliable today for crops production there's more surface that can be adapted for this. For example desert areas. With investments (of course not cheap and with a huge amount of work) desert areas can be transformed in order to be available for crop production. Today those investments are not needed as long there's enough margins to increase the production on actual arable areas.
We all die, so what is the big deal? We are no different from any animal population that has exponential growth, finite resources and a resulting culling of our species.
Overpopulation is not the problem. If every human would come together in one place and stand one meter apart from each other, we would only occupy about 3000 square kilometers, which is not much at all. Allocation. of resources is a much bigger issue than population explosion.
Queen...facts are facts. Volcanos was erupting more often in the past. And with more disastrous efects. Earthquakes was more frequent in the past. Therefore tsunamis was more frequent in the past. Volcanic phenomenons, earthquakes, tsunamis are a sign of a young planet. Not a sign of dying planet.
And please enlight me. What kind of human activity is causing volcanoes eruptions? What kind of human activity is causing earthquakes?
Oh...i get it... There's too many humans walking on the surface of Earth. The trepidations caused by that has a chain effect that give birth to earthquakes. Right?
Nah. Humanity will likely make a million different adjustments when we are in immediate danger. Things just haven't gotten bad enough to spur any significant change.
There are many questions that sprung up in my mind... First, will humans die because of overpopulation? If not overpopulation, will we die because of the pollution? If not pollution, will we die because of criminality? If not, will humans die because of climate change? If not climate change, will humans die because of disasters or is disasters known to kill more because we are just overpopulated?
Exactly my point Shadow. There is enough margin to increase the food production if the situation will be bad enough. At this point increasing the production is not needed and, most of all, will cause huge financial loses. In agriculture if one produce more than what market demand is the shortest way to bankruptcy. Is not like you can produce cabbage this year and sell it in 2030 when there is going to be a higher demand on the market.
