If you are a newb, and your clan is nice, use your volley money to buy mists of confusion, and have them do "To the Chamber". Let your clan do the footsoldiers low and then assist in using the item for the coordination bar (or unless you run out of mist of confusion), and then finish the mission. Then the reward for actions done should be enough for maxing early ap/some upgrades.
