Wulf, I do not disagree, but the pattern in KaW has been light slap on the wrist, at worst. It has seemed, to date, that the ppl who don't take advantage of the exploits are the ones that have been losing. I am saying that this had better be the new standard, not a one time hammer. Way to many exploits have been allowed to pass and what I seeing here appears to be taking back much more than was gained.
Tower builds were discussed at length. Reported. Considered and rediscussed as to whether or not it was an exploit. Many with tower builds (myself included) all but begged the devs to patch it. You have no idea the amount of discussion and research that went into handling the tower issue and whether or not it was serious enough to consider an exploit. it does not compare to selling buildings for more than you paid for them to make trillions in hours.
I agree. But IMO reversing the earned gold (and thats all that was done here) is a light slap on the wrist. Those who have had their builds leveled was because they moved that money elsewhere (to strip with I assume), bought lands, bought inferno to enchant, or some other method of spending that cannot easily be reversed. It is like this: - You have 2t worth of buildings and 3t worth of allies. - You cheat the system and make 10t gold.and unload 5t onto your banks - and now have 2t worth of buildings and 9t worth of allies. - Well the only way for the devs to reclaim the 10t you cheated out of the system is to take the 9t in allies and 1t in buildings. (very similar to an IRS audit cleaning you out) IMO they are very lucky to not see a "BANNED" screen when they load KAW for this. Its not a questionable exploit. Anyone who plays KAW knows it does not permit the earning of trillions in hours EVEN with a credit card.
Here's the thing. All games have exploits. KAW is no exception. But... In this case, there is real money involved. Does KAW plan on refunding real money it just deleted because of it's own mistake? At best - close the loophole! Punishing people for your own mistakes does not make sense! And please, before you do not think and knee jerk respond - this game is for NINE Year olds.
If the average participant in this worked the exploit to 10 Trillion, then we are looking at a creation of 1.5 Quadrillion in gold (15 zeroes). That would be one heck of a game imbalance. I just hope that the reports of certain accounts getting an exemption are rumor only.
Wulf I think ur missing my point 2 points in counter to ur agreements to be exact 1) all the while u guys were discussing the tower build exploit these guys were still using it and gaining an advantage by doing it then not only got to keep everything they gained but refunded thier gold for the very buildings they were using to exploit the devs systemed failed code 2) while I agree any liquid assets these players in this situation should be stripped allies pots bars inferno and such ... The players buildings they had before the exploit should not have been touched at all ... For those that will say well if they stripped and dropped the allies with this gold and the stripped player got no "justice" I ask we're is it for all the clans that had to put up with fighting these towers builds wasting time Lossing ee and crystals real money wasted My point is the buildings before the glitch they had should be restored
In my opinion the devs have gone too far. Yes the players concerned obviously took advantage of a glitch in the system, many of them made trillions of gold in days, and that gold has to be removed from the system, but to completely remove all of their builds, allies, gold, pots, and bronze bars. That's worse then resetting them. They are now stuck in limbo where they can't do anything, they have 0 gold, so can't buy pots to hit an EB pot phase, can't attk, can't steal. The only thing left for them is to reset or buy nobs. The history of gaming has been littered with cheat codes, and players have always looked for ways to get ahead of the game. ↑, ↑, ↓, ↓, ←, →, ←, →, B, A, start, select anyone? how about IDKFA and IDDQD? (if you don't know what these are, google them) How many of you can honestly say that if you had known about this you wouldn't have tried it out? Well 155 people did, many of them made trillions of gold from it, many of them BCd their accounts, bought allies, banked in pots and bronze bars. It's totally fair of the devs to remove the gold/gains made from this exploit, but these same 155 players had previously spent months or years playing, grinding, and building up their accounts. Is it fair that their previous work is undone? I for one say no. Devs, have a heart, put yourselves in the players shoes. If you were playing some game and stumbled across an exploit that let you get ahead what would you do? Would you report it to that game's developers and walk away from it, or would you chance your hand and give it a crack?
Quick add to my last post. These guys didn't hack the server, they didn't bot, it's debatable as to whether they even broke the TOU
I personally think it is worse ... The tower builds got perm equip and the ability to be stronger then any other player in the game while wasting my personal money on crystals and time 4 hours at a time then 2 hours for every war they were allowed in not only did they keep some of the strongest equip in the Game they also got refunded for their efforts on buildings
Know this devs, as someone who has spent money on this game you will not see another dime. YOUR ineptness at not knowing your own game and subsequent 'retroactive' justice in an attempt to cover YOUR OWN mistake has insured this!
Botting still works within game mechanics and doesn't bring in trillions in a day. *Please note, I am not condoning botting in any way* Tower builds are the same way. They don't add obscene amounts of gold to the game. Even nobs have a limit per day. This recent exploit was limitless. You cannot let this influx of money to go unpunished. It has to be taken out of the game. The majority of players know that gold exploits don't end well for those who take advantage, as KAW has stated numerous times.
Does anybody else notice how every BH member here is crying about it the punishments? And by the looks, a few of them suddenly grew big in a day (not accusing anyone). Then the next day had no allies (kinda weird, isnt it?). Hmmm, i wonder who was maybe using this exploit? hmmm
This is absolutley ridiculous... How can u punish people for taking advantage of a mistake u guys hamade ??? I didnt know the exploit but if i did i would of probably tried it, u make the game so hard to grow unless we use real life money it takes years to create a full kingdom and get a good bunch if allies... Maybe if u didnt make it so hard people wouldnt exploit these kind of situations ??. My opinion is u are wrong devs what u have done is stupid and u have peanalised people more then nessasary how has this affected u.?? U have made more then enough money from these wars maybe its about time u give us something back that we dont have to pay for. I understand u need to make RL money so u depend on us purchasing xtals and nobs.. But u are going down hill and people are going to start leaving the game.. (ive seen 6 friends leave today already and they were old big accounts) if u make the mistake dont blame us. Its getting silly now.
Exploiting bad code is a time honored tradition within the gaming community. There are no hacks, no illegal script, just bad code. It too is part of the 'mechanics' of the game.
@wulf. I debate your ATM theory. Look at it like this.... I was at the bank. Someone came in and told the teller that their ATM was outside just spitting free money. They decided to ignore the person telling them and not care that their ATM was spitting cash like no ones business. They let it happen and did nothing to stop it. Even after they were informed that it was happening. So basically they acted as if they didn't care that it was happening an dpeople decided to jump in on it. Do you blame the nature of humans or the failure of the bankers to care about the ATM that was spitting the gold?? Also your opinion doesnt really matter on topics such as these. You yourself sold an acct after it was against tou. Shortly thereafter the acct(which had 4m losses) was banned for the previous user botting. So if you wanna come call people out then look in the mirror before you do silly. Go ahead and debate my last statement to save face in forums but you and I both know better Happy KaWing bud
Like I've stated twice the money gained should be taken yes ... By taking liquid assets ie gold pots bars inferno and buildings (ones build using this gold) But buildings they had before the exploit should have been off limits to this punishment If they didn't have the amount exploited anymore then they didn't profit from that gold so that gold was already removed (ie stripping players then dropping the allies ... They no longer have access to that gold) Taking buildings earned before hand could only be seen as a punishment for exposing a flawed code in the system which is exactly wat tower builds did and they weren't punished at all in fact they gained in every way
elegantly - So if a banks security system has an error, it is cool to steal their money? Bcuz what those that exploiting did was "stole" money when the devs "system" had an error
