The thing is... If anybody of you would have known about this "exploit", which is a devs fault, you would have used it aswell... I doubt that you are all so honor full, honest and perfect, so you wouldn't have used this...
One more post. I've reported gold exploits before, regen exploits, and so yes. I would have reported this. Not just because I knew the devs would catch on eventually, but because I feel compelled to. As much a I'd love a few weeks of free hlbc, I'd feel a lot better about accomplishing it myself.
@ Argoli No, I wouldn't have. I actually have morals, and a constitution that dictate to me that I do not steal. I do not take what I do not earn. I love the defense of "you would have done it too". I'm sure that would work in real life too. "Yes, your honor, the ATM spat out money, and I took it and bought a house and a few cars....you'd do the same!"
It's not even a matter of right or wrong. It's risk vs. Reward for some of us that didn't use it. You knew it was an exploit and there was a risk of being caught and punished. It's been like this for every eexploit in every online game. No,I'm not morally superior for not using it. If I knew for certain I could get way unscathed for cheating I would. I'm not stupid enough to take that chance. All of you that did it knew the risk. You knew it was an exploit. You knew how exploiting is handled in online gaming. You got caught, deal with it.
Willy are you saying you didn't benefit from plunder wars or the land trick? I'm pretty sure you didn't benefit from EE or a tower build. I think sometimes we create a position and defend it to the presence of sensible arguments to the contrary. I am not going to ask you to change your mind. But as i have stated previously there is no difference between manipulating system war mechanics to get unrealistic plunder as there is profiting from razing buildings. Sure we hit a few different keys but the scope in relation to discovering new unfounded mechanics is the same, and perhaps most importantly the morals in light of it being public knowledge weeks ago are the same. It's easy to take the high ground after the fact, when the gates have been shut and the horse has bolted. But that doesn't change the fact that using new mechanics has never seen accounts destroyed like this before. Discovering new mechanics to games and ways of winning is what Kaw and gaming in general is about. Sure, take what I made back if you don't think it's fair. I don't mind. A level playing field should be maintained. But take what I paid for? That's wrong!
It's not new mechanics it's a broken ATM. New mechanics would be like a sure fire stock pick. Maybe that's why. I'm sure it sucks to get caught for those who glitched but that's always a risk when one takes what's not rightfully theirs isn't it? I know with absolute certainty that I wouldn't have risked my account. Maybe it's because I buy nobs that I have little sympathy even if an additional 'fine' was taken. I suspect that actual customers would have stopped buying if this was not fixed - actually I know it because I've seen it happen in other games.
If punishment is only to take back what was stolen, how is that a deterrent? I mean if another glitch comes up and you know worst case it'll just be taken back you have nothing to lose do you?
The point is there have been numerous other exploits in this game over and over again ones that do not break tou have NEVER been punished in this way specially when they were common knowledge These people not only didn't gain from using this exploit like others did they were stripped of stuff they had before they started using the exploit The point being this is the only time ata has ever punished for an exploit that didn't break tou
Taking back ill gotten gains from them I see no issue with .. But taking wat they had before hand has never been done and sets a new president one that if they follow they on then they better for every other exploit that will ever take place Personally I think the devs got embarrassed in some way or got caught purposefully putting this "cheat" code in place and when it was discovered by others waited till enough found out about it and started using it to cover up its original intended parties My opinion but there it is
@willy, this still is a game... I didn't say it was right to do so, but I think 90% would have used that mistake did by devs if they had knew about it... I personally didn't know about it and I'm glad, because otherwise devs would make screw me up like medic... This is really stupid. Devs say: we take the exact amount if money back which you gained, how is it possible that his complete(!) build is gone now? I think it is definetly fair to take the gold back, but everything? That's just not right.
Lol no problem shak Just confused as to why people are being punished for those that used after it was common knowledge the devs could have shut it down in minutes and fixed the issue weeks ago The 155 users that did this I've talk to atleast 70 or so and most didn't start using it till the end of last week at the earliest why the long delay and over punishment in just this one instance
- It's the bank's fault the ATM wasn't fixed more quickly - We shouldn't lose more than we stole. That's like... actual punishment and so unfair! - We were never punished before - Everyone was doing it and you'd have done it too Maybe devs took more because players in question suddenly had an ill gotten advantage over others who used to beat them? Not sure if they took that into consideration or not. I would assume some fair sized strips and farming was happening.
Ur implying something was stolen ... It wAsnt no one owned this gold before it was given out it was generated out of thin air
But suga if wat ur saying is true that these funds were used to strip customers that used nobs to buy allies ..... Then don't u think those paying customers should also be upset with ata for leaving this up even after they knew it was there for so long?
I'm not implying it - I stated it. There will evidently always be a divide between the legit players and the ones who glitched. I just find the defense arguments absurd and far fetched. As I said perhaps it's because I actually buy nobs and don't cheat.
Only using this as an example not saying Yafi used this exploit at all ... But lets say they did and used these type of funds to strip IMF of 47 t in allies Yafi wouldn't be at fault for using the in game mech but the devs knowing it was there not stopping it does constitute theft on their part knowing he payed 20k in nobs to get those allies and will have to again
I didn't see the post in question a few weeks back but I'll assume it exists/existed for the sake of argument. Yes ATA should definitely have fixed the ATM machine more quickly. That doesn't exonerate everyone though.
There is a marketplace controlled by ATA, therefore nothing was created "out of thin air". If I found a way to start making counterfeit stock certificates to large corporations it is still stealing. I would be taking value from people with a paid interest. Same thing, just with push button app gold.
