GIVE A CHANCE FOR THE SILENCED PEOPLE THAT PASSED 5 Months

  1. If you send and email that outlines how sorry you are for your indiscretions.

Explain, that you spend money on kaw

Explain you are genuinely sorry and will endeavour not to breach again.

You will find that your permanent silence will be lifted.

  2. On my experience the first breach of tou is generally someone unaware of spam. The next is usually rage. By this time each player has had an opportunity to learn the rules and should abide by them.

That said as we have a three strike rule I have always believed that beyond where there is the risk of a predator ( certain players and those asking for obviously illegal contact should be perm banned. ) that silences should be scaled on severity. Perm silenced for 3 spams or failing to understand what word is censored ( hard to do that one ) especially when many players will deliberately bait a new victim to raging on their wall and reporting them afterwards.
< fell victim to that myself week one courtesy of an ex mods clan mate and then clan mate mod account silenced me. ( yes still hate that player lol ) who knew you could say your a piece of crap to someone legitimately and not telling them they are a piece of ( censored )?
Dumb much. Devs add a few extra words to filter please 

Using a scaled severity of silence the devs could remove one strike every 6 months or so for that clan spam or oooops moment. Surely being on third strike especially with clan spam now such high risk for a two year old offence is a little ridiculous. Maybe a year if they told another where to go ( and who hasn't wanted to do that) and for others just ban them.

On the plus side we have some decent mods now that don't abuse their power and will try to help and often warn players first.
Canadiangirl was the perfect example of a mod for how to warn and explain possible infringements.
Some of the newer mods also try hard to follow in her footsteps thankfully. But all players should try to inform greys the come into contact with of the rules. And especially the risks.

  3. Sorry and btw
How much a player spends should have zero influence. It should be individual circumstances.

  4. @ optimal. Don't ever underestimate how much influence You have based on what you spend.

Your spending power IS your power to sway
    The developers influence.

  5. once someone said something in wc (which im not going to say here), which didnt bypass but was quite inappropiate and after 5 minutes they didnt get silenced, so i put it in speech marks, then said 'go back to pimd' and got silenced myself :|

  6. @ Skinny believe me I know that only too well.
But I am an idealist and believe every player should be treated equally as far as in game rules go. It may not happen like that. But I'll argue for it until I leave this community

  7. It's hard to say whether I "spprot" this or not. It really is circumstantial. Yes, different mods silence for different things. Some can be more lenient than others. When I was moderator, I would warn players first. But that can only really apply to certain things such as spam. I think that some people may be able to learn their lesson. And some not. Typically those who learn are those who haven't been permanently silenced. Yes, you can be silenced for an unjust reasoning on occasion, if you contact ATA about it and send proof; they can and most likely will reverse the silencing. They will tend to get after the moderator who unjustly silenced the player as well. So I guess the system isn't too bad, I just think more warnings should be handed out to those who don't intend to be malicious.

Also, in before the filter. Dumb thing. I bet circumstantial will be blocked, if so; substitute with "situational".

  8. Support. I also suggest the following modifications:

    1. In-game moderators should never have the power to silence anyone permanently (especially not automatically just because it's the n-th silence). After all, moderators are just players like everyone else and have their friends and foes. I'm sure that most try really hard to be fair, but they're only human and may make mistakes. Such a mistake is negligible for a 24-hour silence, but not for a permanent one.

    2. Even permanently silenced players should be able to post in clan chat and write private messages because clan owners and private conversation partners can pretty well decide for themselves what they want to read and what not. So banning these people from public spaces like world chat, walls, and maybe forums should be more than enough.

    3. If there must be such a thing as permanent silence, the silenced players should be left alone and not attacked and insulted without a chance to defend themselves.

  9. Cele mods get a silence button. I do not believe they are aware if it is a persons first or 3 rd offence when they silence. Of they perm silence it's purely because it is 3rd strike and auto.

To be able to talk in clan chat whilst silenced defeats the object. No punishment if you can communicate and the intention is there not for the spam or odd expletive. It's there primarily as a tool to keep the community safer. From harassment, predators and other abusers.

Levels of silence for offence which I believe moose and others suggested before may be more appropriate. Ie spam 12 hours expletive 24 predator or other inappropriate behaviour perm silence or ban with dev review.
Though some flexibility may need to be added ideally and differencing time constraints ( think points on your license only last 5 years ) a silence should mean exactly that. A total silence. It's a punishment in a social app. If you can't obey the rules then you earn the silence imposed. Though there does need to be some more consideration to terms and duration though that primarily seems to happen at email stage of discussion.

  10. You have 3 warnings before the hammer comes down. If you didn't get the picture before then what's to say you would've learned after the fact. Hmmm? Then the next thread would be "why can't ata give the 2x perm silenced after 5 months another chance?"

  11. If offences in clan chat are not punishable the sand way as forums, world chat, walls etc, why not let silenced players talk in there? It's the "clan owners" responsibility to keep the clan chat area safe. An old rule even stated that clan owners can be held responsible for players in that clan who bypass etc in world chat. So, why not leave clan chat out of the silencing picture and let owners/admins handle it? They can just kick, same principle as if someone was cussing me or being racist in PM I could block.
And if they start to get really heavy on the racism or spit out some truly disgusting insults, THEN the clan members can report.

  12. I completely agree I think they should do this

  13. Lmao I've been under a never ending perm silence for almost 8 months now lol. After a point they won't do anything for about 2 years before they unsilence an acc

  14. How about this. After your first silence, you get permanently silenced. They gave you a warning. They shouldn't have to give you more. In fact, after 2 silences I think they should ban the player for a day. That will teach them.
