When it comes to guitar solos, Eric Clapton and Peter Frampton are excellent, along with Slash from GnR. Dimebag Darrel, Dave Mustane,Joe Satrioni all great great musicians.
Drum solos I like Peter Chris in Kiss, 100,000 years live version. Also Alex Van Halen live intro for Atomic Punk. Lars Ulrich can kiss my
Great thread! There are a couple of solo's in Rock history that really brings out the Beast.. Here's one in particular that sometimes gets lost cos it's so short (and the song carried other tunes and choruses the rest of the way).. I added two links.. One pretty much perfectly explaining how it came about.. And the other just focusing on the full riff.. Jon Lord explaining the monster riff The Demon Decon Solo ...and here's an imagery to go with it.. Christine..
The Tragically Hip- New Orleans is sinking Zeppelin- Since I've been loving you Floyd- Shine on you crazy diamond Acadaca- Let there be Rock Skynyrd- Free Bird Neil Young- Hey hey my my Prince- Purple Rain Hendrix- All along the watchtower Rage- Bulls on parade Frampton- Do you feel like we do (Live) Just a short list off the top of my head.. Not so much of a solo, but the whole song... Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend it. Such a smooth sound for an electric guitar
Glad to see another pantera song mentioned One of my favorite solos is dimebag in "floods". It isn't flamboyant, but it soothes my soul and relaxes me. On another side, "orion" by Metallica is one of my favorite instrumentals as well and does the same
Orion - Metallica The wall - pink floyd Don't you want me - felix The music during the warehouse scene in kickass The music from 28 days later Are all good ones
